Default automatic headlights.

I'm not 100% sure, but if your headlights are on auto, the function will change depending if the the headlights have actually turned themselves on or are off. If off, they will just flash and never stay on high beams. If they are on, they should flash, or stay on depending. Maybe try them with the switch turned completely off and then to the regular on setting instead of auto, if they were on automatic.

I actually tried that the first time it happened. I ended up high beaming someone because of it and felt like an *** when i was coming back into town. I shut the lights completely off and back to the regular on and they were still stuck on. I wish it would just break so i new what it was haha. As far as i'm concerned any electrical issues are the worst.

just played with my lights, no hb's in the o position "P" no hb's, but as soon as i switched to the headlight position the hb's were on.. so maybe the relay still switches but the hb's don't light till the switch is turned to headlights or the auto as that worked too..it may stay in the daytime running light postion till the switch is in the headlight postion as well......interesting find...also my fogs were off didn't pull the switch out for them for the testing..

- Dburd2011 : Just had the same thing happen to my '13 Platinum this week. Doesn't malfunction all the time, but I know the next time I'm driving at night, I'm sure the hi beam will stick on! Sometimes the hi beams sticks on and some times the low beams sticks on. So, I'm guessing its a relay issue. I will take it to the dealer this week.

Well if you find out what is causing it let me know please. Mine hasn't did it since I posted this so I haven't took it to the dealer. But I also have no idea what is causing it.

Or its due to the HIDs?

You're not supposed to quickly power cycle them (like flashing HB) as it will ruin the bulbs and ballasts.

If you have factory HID I'll bet that's it.

I don't power cycle them. Mine usually act up after driving for miles with the high beams on and when I try to switch back to low they act up. it has happened twice like that. One time it acted up when I was coming out of town I tried to turn my high beams on and they wouldn't stay on. But like I said I can't get it to happen again so I haven't been able to mess with anything to see what's going on with them.

Of course they are working fine today. No sense going to dealer if they are working properly. Maybe it has something to do when they have been on for awhile at night, heating up a relay or something. I'll try again tonight.

I didn't know this, as these are my first HIDs. I just read that each time the bulb is powered on, it loses some life. I think I will turn off "AUTO" headlamps as mine fire each time I start my truck in the garage in the daytime. I'm guessing they are expensive to replace.

Hi Beam Switch Update: The switch hasn't malfunctioned since my last post (of course). Unrelated, I am not using the AUTO headlight mode to prevent the HIDs from firing when starting my truck in the garage during the day. I will report back if the switch fails again and the service remedy.
