Well it must have changed, in my 2010 if I pull back the highs come in as long as I hold it (flash to pass) I let go and it returns to normal, then if I push the stalk towards cluster it goes to brights on and stays until I disengage it.

Sorry for the confusion if it changed.

So I take it you know how the switch works and when they stick on you can pull it all the way forward until you arm gets sore and they will not go back to low or high which ever you were last on? correct! No come the bad thing,,, you already said it....... it doesn't happen all the time so I guess that will be a bummer to get the dealer to replace the switch unless they can duplicate it. It could be a lose connection but again it is a pain in the butt. You could take off the molding and check to see if all the connectors are secure but being that it is only the lights I doubt it will be a loose connection. that switch is a multiple controller so you would have other problems. So I would say you have to see if you can get it to do it anytime you are close to any ford dealer!
That is what i am afraid of. I guess the next time I'm near the dealership I will have to see if i can make it do it.

Yours is just like my 2006 Mustang. so they probably made the change in 2011. I know this cause whichever vehicle I am driving the most when I get in the other I am always using the last one I was use to and giving people a reason to flash the heck out of me until I get back to remembering. I have the same issue when I drive the standard trans for a long while and then I go to auto and find myself pushing down the phantom clutch pedal!

Sorry for all the damn typo's in my last post,,,,,, But I was just thinking,,,, today we all (or most of us) have a cell phone that can do video! Why not take a video the next time it happens showing you doing the correct procedure and showing the dash high beam indicator not working or not going off which ever the case. If it is dark you could show the lights not flashing too! Then take it to the dealer and show them, maybe,,,, just maybe they will do something,,,, but again,,,, that will only prove to them it is a problem but without it doing it for them they will have a hard time fixing it. TBS I know many times I will call the dealer parts dept. and ask if they stock the light switch... the reason is many parts are not stocked parts unless they have problems with that part! The other reason they don't stock like they use to is they normally can have the part the next day! I know some dealers will look at the video and say,,, well that doesn't show us what the problem is and others may say,,, I know what it is,, it is probably the light switch so I will order one in!

I recently had my Multi Function switch, this same switch I believe, replaced because my wipers were randomly turning themselves on or sticking on, or off. Same deal as yours it wouldn't do it every day, not even every other day and not either of the times that I drove it to my dealer to ask about it/hopefully having it replaced under warranty. No go. They "couldn't replicate customers concern". I was pissed. Drove to second dealer and made an appointment, planning to pay for it myself at this point. Getting to the point of my reply: this dealer just went ahead and replaced the switch. Warranty. Thumbs up. I'll go back There nxt time. Try a dealer, or two. FYI For my '11 it was also only like a $35 switch and under an hours labor.

I had this same problem. Turns out that the harness was corroded. I'd have the dealer check that.

I stand corrected. This morning I was in my truck in the dark and remembered this thread. On my 11 it is all back, or towards you. My 05 and my GT500 it is how I posted earlier. Carry on.

I actually had my winshield wipers stick on right after i got the truck. After reading yours i remembered that happening. Maybe i will have to look into just changing the switch.
