He has gotten 45,000 miles out of them, that's pretty darn good for how heavy these trucks are.

The guy at the tire shop suggested every 3-5,000 miles. I have put 56,000 miles on this truck in a year (avg 1,100 miles/week). If I rotated every 3,000 miles I'd have to rotate every 3 weeks...that'd be a pita. At 5,000 it still sees the dealership almost once/month.

Looks normal to me, these trucks lean the tires quite a bit on tight turns, thus feathering the inner/outter edges. I need new tires on the work truck every year and rotate once about every 8000miles, usually the outter edges wear much fast on the fronts.

Very common problem with our trucks. The fronts can not be set to the spec of 35psi, but need to be increased to 42 psi or even higher. Currently I'm at 45psi. My LT winter tires had to be cranked up to 80psi.

okay...so if I replace these with a taller tire (275/55r20), the wear is only going to get worse? Would the taller tire make the truck roll more, causing the edges to wear faster than with the stock size?
