Default HELP! Rotten Dealer Need Advice

Local Ford dealer has a bad reputation for crappy work, can't keep experienced Tech's, and lots of returns for do-overs. Also clipped me for a radiator flush at 20k miles when there was nothing wrong with the anti-freeze. Never asked if OK and it wasn't brought in for that service.

Anyway, got some issues and want to get opinions I can trust vs the dealer. So I turn to you folks!

#1 Issue: Car cuts dead off in the middle of a turn stopping at a traffic light when less than a third of a tank of gas is left and its hot weather.

#2 Issue: Tank never shows full (¾ max) on a fill up, the message can say only 33 miles left, it will only take 18 gallons and its a 38 gallon tank.

#3 Issue: Drivers side blows cold air when A/C is on – right side blows hot air from hell no matter what you do.

#4 Issue: On a hill, or at a stop on a slight incline, when you pull off, the rear end makes a clang, loud when first operating in morning, somewhat less as the day goes on.

Its a 2010 Platinum purchased new with 40K miles. Love the truck, hate and don't trust the dealer.

Any ideas/advice ????? Thanks!

Not sure what to say on the rest, but for this one, is it possible the gas pump is shutting off? For example, I have to stop filling, reset the pump and re-authorize my card to fill my tank all the way.

Sorry about the dealer, find another one?

Issue 1 - no idea

issue 2 - do you run the tank down fairly low before filling? found out that local gas pumps limit how much I can spend per stop and as such only get 3/4 tank. doubt that is it, but figured id ask. Secondly, it could be the in tank sensor is messed up, either bar is bent, float is messed up, or the analog switch is borked and not registering the right level. Though if the physical side is fine then it could be the programming in the PCM is not right which is why it is registering only 3/4, 33 mi, etc.... and a massive long shot is an issue with the gauge cluster its self. Audi had issues with that for a long time, but again a long shot. I'd ask to get flashed to the newest strategy for the computer and see if that takes care of it all.

Issue 3 - is the control through the touch screen or dials? dual zone or single?

Issue 4 - proably the universal joint slop. if I recall there is a TSB about it. Aside from that, not sure.

Thanks - but that's not the issue, but one thing I missed. When I "fill up" in hot weather, the truck won't turn over, just grinds and grinds trying to start.

Its takes the gas, but I am always afraid of relying on the gauge, cause its obviously dead wrong/

the bang could be your spare tire or draw bar in your hitch. probably need to drop your tank and look at the pump and sending unit. 36 gallon tank, not sure about a 38 gal.

Plus the AC problem...plus the stalling problem...

You betcha! But they are over an hours away, have an excellent reputation, and that's where I'll be going, but I want to get your collective wisdom first so I don't get blindsided.

Yes, I do run down to 50 or 70 miles left. Its not the fuel shut off - I can put all the gas I want without the pump shutting off. Well, maybe not all I want, but I have never had the pump quit on me, except once in Montana

Issue 3 - is the control through the touch screen or dials? dual zone or single?

Touch screen and dual zone - have gone in and made sure temps are all OK. Example, 70 left.70 right.

Issue 4 - proably the universal joint slop. if I recall there is a TSB about it. Aside from that, not sure.
Many thanks!!!!

For issue 1 and 2 there was a tsb issued out for that I don't have the number but if you Google it it will show up. Also on that tsb it also deals with the truck not starting right after a fill up I believe it's emissions related crap. Issue 3 it's the blend door actuators for the passenger side those are the easy ones to get to be lucks u its not the drivers side. The dealer charges like 1200 dollars to change out that actuator under the driver seat. Issue 4 do you have the 6.5 foot bed if you to you could have the slip yoke mess that the guts with the newer trucks are having. There is also a tsb out on that as well. They re lube the slip yoke. Just for the record I am not an expert and never claim to be so please no bashing me if I am incorrect. Hope this helps you out some.

Have no fear - no bashing, ever Appreciate all the help I can get!

Tis the 8' bed. One good thing, I have the 5 year estended premium warranty, so it should only cost me $50 an issue
