I know this thread is old, but I would like to know what happened with the OP's truck and if the issue was corrected. I responded to the other thread and PMed the OP.

I had the same issue with my truck (4.10 geared FX4)

I hit the same brick wall you did and got essentially the same response you did. "Transmission functioning as designed, no repairs needed." I see no benefit to this programming for the tranny and don't buy the off road explanation either. I mean who uses 5th and 6th gears while off road unless perhaps you happen to be doing a little desert racing in your stock F150. All other shift points occur as described in the service manual for both normal and T/H mode. Only the 5-6 shift is different in normal driving mode from all the other ratios available. There is no separate shift point charts for FX4 (or raptor) models equipped with 4.10s that I saw. Don't understand Fords refusal to reprogram so it shifts according to the specs in the shop guide, and to keep their customers happy. I did not choose 4.10 for off roading, I got them for towing daily around town and I rarely get on the expressway or travel over 50mph. I essentially got a 5 speed for my application, not the 6 speed that was advertised. (And certainly not the gas mileage advertised while turning unnecessarily high RPMs.) Perhaps one of these aftermarket tuners will address this?? Probably my first and last Ford product. Not because the truck sucks, but because their cust. serv. sucks!!! This seems to be an easy and cheap fix.

Off topic I know but I don't disagree with you by making this your last ford. Customer service is just as important of how they handle problems. I haven't purchased any GM product for over 25yrs for that same reason, how I was treated. This is my first Ford too and so far having it for 9 months, haven't had any issue other than I had to put a quart of oil in it (at less than 5k miles after first oil change at 5k)...but apparently that is normal from what the dealer told me....

I would park it in front of their service lines and tell them I will move it when You decide to fix it. Put a nice sign on the side that says "Broke and Ford won't fix me."

I said the same thing about not buying another Ford. I did however switch back to a V10 F250 so that I could at least make use of some parts that I was still sitting on from my previous truck and so that the painful trade out of my F150 was a a little easier. I almost wish I still had the F150 and had found this thread much earlier so that we had a stronger argument with Ford. I actually had a fair experience with the customer service representative, it was the transmission calibration experts and engineers that I have the problem with. This is obviously not the way that the transmission is supposed to act, they just don't want to admit that they made a mistake. Their explanation as to why the transmission performs the way it does is just plain B.S. The explanation was originated from a guy named Kurt Nickerson and I would love to have a one on one conversation with this man and have him answer some questions for me. I lost a lot of money trading my truck off right away, but I just cannot stand using any device or machine that does not perform as expected.

As bad as I wanted to do this, i just took the truck to another dealer and traded it for my current F250. I picked the truck up from the service department with no answer as to why the check engine light was on and that bogus transmission explanation. They were told by the engineer that was on the case that there was nothing wrong with the truck, just turn the light off and send it out the door. This engineer never even came to look at the truck, even after I personally met with another engineer that drove my truck and agreed that something was wrong with the programming of the PCM before it went to service. The engineer that told the service guys to ignore my concerns and to just get the light to turn off was on vacation when I met with the first engineer, otherwise I would have dealt with him through the whole process.
