I have a 2010 Super Crew that I bought in July, had the factory remote start installed also. Once the truck is running via the remote start it stays running when the door is opened BUT the engine turns off when I insert the key. The service manager said it was because of the Smart Key feature. My question is can I somehow reprogram it to stay running when I insert the key?

Yes.... Go back to Page 2. It is explained there.

*** Edit... Misread your problem, however have you tried the instructions on page 2 to see if that clears it up? Mine used to shut down when I opened the doors... never had the chance to put the key in before it would shut off. ***

Steel, No clue why your air wouldnt run... obviously you have it turned on?! (Not trying to be a smart ***... just sometimes we overlook the easy stuff.)

Twenty I'd go to post 20 and try that,if that doesn't work then take it to your Ford dealer and tell them to fix it... you aren't stepping on the brake when sticking the key in are you??

No, no stepping on the brake or gas just inserting the key. I had a viper in my last truck and it would always stay running when I inserted the key, I was surprised that with the new truck it turns off.

Thanks.

Yeah I don't think Ford was thinking when they came up with this, post 20 will fix that problem.

Thanks to all for the remote start info in this thread, my problem was finally resolved. After three trips to the dealer that installed it I gave up, they either were to incompetent to wire and program it the way I wanted, or they were unwilling because of the liability issues concerning the my-key feature. I was able to have a mobile installer come to my house to re-wire and re-program it. His fee was very reasonable and well worth it, I will use his services again if needed as opposed to the dealership.

The remote works great now:

1. No horn @ start up
2. Runs with doors open
3. Runs for 10 minutes
4. Stays running when the key is inserted

Regards to all,

here's the file for the 6-button alarm and rmst system:
http://documents.codesystems.com/710617.pdf

and the file for everyone else with the 1 button rmst system:
http://documents.codesystems.com/710620.pdf

for those with 2010, use the highlighted My-Key option settings in those files. you'll see the "shutdown on door open" option setting that needs to be switched off.

Could someone tell me where to find the programming button? I'm having a hard time finding it. Would appreciate a picture too so I can know what to look for. I have the bi-directional unit on my 2010 Raptor. I noticed after the install that there is a small antenna pointing down from the rear view mirror.

Thanks
