Mine does the same thing, From what I understand you order it with the truck and the dealer installs the unit when the truck comes in, I had a local installer hard wire my radar detector on friday and he does remote starts and he thought that the Ford remote start was a nice set up it just plugs into the harness. My wifes Buick remote will continue to run, allow you to insert your key and just turn it to on. I guess a minor inconvience.

My dealer installed Ford Bi-Directional remote start keeps running when you unlock the doors, get in and insert the key. It will stay running about 10-15 minutes w/o inserting the key.

I have the ford remote start as well and when i picked up my truck it also shut off when i opened the door. Took it back to the dealer and they had to disable MyKey in order to keep your truck running when u open the door. I do not know the process on how to disable MyKey but that is what u need to have done, take it back to the dealer and tell them to disable MyKey they should know how to do that if they dont find a new dealer.

its not mykey that you disable. it is the safety shut down for my key.your my key works either way.
the way it works is there is a chip in the key, so when you turn on my key give it to your kid and he starts it it reads the chip but if it is remote started ford or aftermarket it wont read the chip and the safty control wont work

Hey, TeamRoper Can you get ahold of your dealer that did that for you and get them to print off some instructions on how to program the vehicle not to shut down when doors are opened and to run for 15min.

Then post those instructions here or I will give you an address to mail then too.

Half these dealers around my area don't have a clue on how to do this!!

First off, please turn off this font as it is very disturbing. Dealers are not allowed to do this and will beat around the bush to get you to not keep asking. Ford sent them a letter telling them under no circumstance should they perform this on any vehicle.

I didn't know that that font was so "disturbing"

I know dealers are not allowed to do this anymore but I know that every dealer is NOT "buy the book"

Everyone know's that there are dealers out there that still perform this even though Ford says they are not suppose to!!!!
