Help! 2009 5.4 V8 vs 2011 EcoBoost
So I have experienced the engine ticking/knocking in my 04 5.4 already and fixed it once...its back. I don't really know what to do but I have thrown around the idea of just getting rid of the truck. I found two trucks that I like and I'm looking for a little feed back. Which ones the better option here?
1. 2009 FX4 SCrew 6.5' Bed 5.4 V8 with 87,216 miles - $20,342

2. 2011 Lariat SCrew 6.5' Bed 3.5 EcoBoost with 79,149 miles - $24,943

My Payments on the 09 would go up about $60 vs $125 for the 11 however the EcoBoost would get better mpgs and I am still thinking twice about the 5.4 again...

Possibly, I just started looking. Due to my old truck dying on me I was in a bind and needed something new in a pinch. Unfortunantly that put me upside down on my 04 5.4. I owe aproximately $5,000 more than what they wanna give me on trade for my truck so I have been looking at trucks priced well below the kbb value to try to turn things around for me. The 2009 is $4,000 under and the 2011 is $7,000 under.
Yup look to the dealer that is high. My 11 5.0 sold for 25000 at the dealer with 12000 miles on it. That was in Nov 12.
Also not to detract from you thread but more and more I see people in here, my past included getting rid of a Ford because they have an issue and are not confident it will get fixed. I say look to something else if you dare a different brand. The only way Ford will get it and up quality is if we all take a stand and move on.

I can't speak about the 2011, but i bought my 2009 XLT (chrome package) in February of this year for $18000cdn in a private sale at 75k miles. It now has 85k miles. Same engine and body config (less toys inside though).
The truck really needed a full going over at that point in its life (changed both diff fluids, transmission fluid, coolant, PS fluid and leaking pressure hose, brake fluid, new plugs, shocks).
With the engine bone stock mechanically I've added a 87 performance/tow from 5 star and it comes pretty close in performance to the 2013 XLT 5.0 that I drive for work. Be prepared for some maintenance in buying either truck. I'm biased towards the white one

What's wrong with your 2004? How much to repair? Being the end of the year you should be able to get a good deal. I would shoot for about 17,500 to 18 k on the white one. But I could be way out of line.
White one in a heart beat. My buddy just traded his 11 EcoBoost because of a problem in the turbo. But you should also look into 13 5.0. I seen them here in Houston for 23k and some rime less am sure you will get better rate on a brand new truck as well
Good luck

I have an 09 5.4 and the EB puts it to shame without effort. I would have a mechanic go over each of these pickups. I wouldn't have any second thoughts going with either one other than the fact that both are priced much too high. JMO.
