To the OP...........have you driven a 2014 yet? There are certainly some GREAT deals out there right now as the 2015's are starting to hit the lots.....going for the deal on a 2014 is what I did.....

Yes I did, but it was only the 3.5 EB. But after hearing how the 5.0 sounds and that I don't tow massive amounts, I figured that would be a better way to save a little on the truck and make it easier to mod down the road. Probably going to buy a bare fleet vehicle for cheap. They're offering me one for 36k with 7 in rebates and a trade in, so it would be close to 400 a month. Thinking of doing that and just starting it from the bottom up

bare fleet? As in an XL?
shop around! I got on cars.com narrowed down the trim and color then looked for the other options from there.
XLT 5.0s are 28k here, stx for 27k, FX2 w/o leather 32.
biggest bang for the buck if you're after performance is the 3.73 gears. significantly quicker than the 3.31 truck I test drove.

The only new ones I see are with 3.55s. I've been wondering why they don't have 3.73s anymore. And yes, it's an XL from the dealer. It'll be my first new vehicle in 9 years, so does the website offer the dealership Internet prices?

cars.com seemed to have the lowest "internet pricing" for the dealers I looked at, they wouldn't budge on it except for giving me tint and crappy wheel locks and a big discount on the bed liner.
I couldn't find a 3.73 w/o the e-locker so I ended up w/ that but the 3.55's should be limited slip.
where are you in texas?
here's a 40 mile radius of west Houston 5.0, crew cab, 3.73 under $30k. those prices include ford rebates.

Nobody did. Now take your Valium and go sit in the corner until it takes effect.
Op. The '14 as you described is a good all around truck. Even better, ford lets you customize options galore in multiple trims. No major issues with any set up, your proposed purchase included.

I have had my '14 now for 2 weeks. I love it. It is a screw 4x4 Lariat with everything and yes, it is a 5.0. Best riding truck ever. I have the bucket seats with the shifter on the floor. If I wasn't sitting so high I would think I was driving an expensive luxury car, rides so nice. No disrespect to the eco guys but I went with the 5.0 because it has a lot less moving parts so in my mind a lot less chances of issues down the road. Stock is getting low though on the '14's as there really aren't any '15's on the lots yet. They are having production problems per my dealer plus I wouldn't get a '15 anyway. I don't think you will be disappointed with the truck.

I've had both engines. My 2012 FX4 screw had the 5.0 and 3.73 gears. Fantastic power, good mpg. Best of 21.9mpg on a trip. Towed great. Worlds above the 5.4's I've had.
Good luck!
