What's suppose to be wrong with the brakes and rotors on these trucks? I got almost 50k on mine and no problems with my brakes

I have no idea. The service tech made it seem like I was driving my truck too hard. I may drive fast, but I don't drive with my foot on the brake pedal. Not to mention, I've driven fast with every vehicle I've owned, never once have I had to replace the brakes after 20k miles

Yeah seems to soon I drive fast and brake hard and tow a 12' enclosed with no trailer brakes and I've never had to change mine yet wonder if something is tweaked and wearing them down faster happened on my street bike

Brake pad replacement is related to how and where the truck is driven. If the truck is on the freeway all the time like mine...34K in 7 months than brake wear is pretty much non existent. In town driving will wear them down pretty fast. I have traded one ton diesels in with 175-200K on them that never had brakes replaced....but replaced my daughters Escape's pads last week...32K miles....mostly city driving.

Maybe you are right. But I havent always owned my truck. I bought it used with 16,000 miles. So maybe the 1st person was hard on them. And there is an article in consumer reports on the brakes for f150's.

I agree with you too, I wasn't trying to say it will happen to everyone...but I also am not saying I will be the only one

I have over 22k and no brake problems. I have never had to do brakes on any vehicle except my first car a 90 corolla with over 100k on it. I had a dodge that had over 55k and the brakes werent even halfway gone. It helps to use engine braking and not drive 50mph to a red light then slam on the brakes. I do more city driving than highway and all I get is the truck sitting overnight brake squeal that goes away after a few times of applying the brakes.

Haha!! I'm not hard on my brakes!!! I drive 20 miles round trip to work everyday. And I come across 1 stop sign and 2 stop lights to work, and just the 2 lights on the way home. All going the opposite direction of the traffic of boston. This is the same way I went with my '04 f150 that had 123,000 miles that I did brakes at 80,000. And the same way with my s-10 that I bought new in 2002, I sold it with 70,000 miles and never did brakes!!!

So if I was hard on my brakes, I probably would've done more brake jobs than just 1, through 3 vehicles.
