Headlight Options
Hey everyone,
I've had my '10 Fx4 for about a month now and I have decided to change up my headlights, for both looks and performance. From what I have researched, I can go with projector headlights, custom HID housings with the HID bulbs, or the OEM headlights with HID conversion kits.
For projector headlights, I have chosen Recon (http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?p...09-11&p_cat=82) simply because replacements headlights for the 09-10 models are very rare and a lot of people seem to use Recon for various lighting needs. Are there any negatives to this type of headlight? Are HID housing/bulbs superior?
Something I have not been able to find, but I know is out there, are custom HID housings. How to these do in terms of brightness compared to the projectors? My concern is blinding people on the road.
Lastly, I have been thinking about ordering the Harley Davidson headlights for my Fx4. This is actually my #1 choice atm, regardless of adding HID bulbs. They look great, not as flashy and out there as the projectors I linked to. Anyways, has anyone had any experience putting HID's in a set of OEM lights? Hard to install, difficult to aim, etc?
Sorry for so many questions.
Thanks

Unless you can find those Recon' s at a cheaper price you might consider these I have been looking at on ebay....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-...item2c54e9b9a7. There are also some smoked ones if you don' t like the all black.

I'm gonna go with my gut on this one. I'll be ordering the Harley tails/heads once I return to the states. I'm gonna stay away from that other stuff.
So, now that that is settled, has anyone had any experience putting HID bulbs in the OEM housings?

I have a set of the 8000k H.I.Ds in my 2010 f150 stock housing, didn't reaim them, it's a easy install took about 45 mins. And I love the brightness of them and the colour, haven't had anyone flash me thinking I have my high beams on.

6000K HID 35Watt ballast in stock headlight assemblies.
I get he odd person flash me thinking I have my highs on. But to be honest. I got that before also.
The cut line on the stock housing is pretty good!
When you do get the harley lights. Make sure you get them aligned/aimed. As they won't be aimed properly for your truck.
