Default Headlight comparison

So I completed my HID conversion and thought I would share the results. It was a PITA getting all the parts, and, I never want to change an HID bulb again, but it was all worth it in the end. Getting the wire attached to the bulb and fitting it in to the assembly was, by far, the most difficult part of this entire process. I will gladly pay Ford to change them for me from here on out.

That said, on to the comparison! I still need to make final adjustments. These were ballpark until I can do the measurements.

LEDs in reflector housings with factory fog lights. I did this because the LEDs burst so much, the fogs actually improved vision. I didn't even bother taking a picture of the high beam LEDs in reflector housings because visibility actually got far worse.

I can tell from the photos that you don't have the proper HID optics. Your distance vision is awful. Shame. You have nice bright light right in front of your truck, but with the proper (correct) optics for HIDs, the distance light should be almost double what you're showing. Proper HID optics make the fog lights all but useless/unnoticeable. Hate to tell you, but you just wasted a lot of time and effort for a dismal result. Sorry... (and I'm going to guess that you don't care that it's illegal to install HID capsules in a halogen housing)

I went through all this in another car some years ago, and it even had projectors. never again. I'll spend the big buck$ on the real deal from now on.

Which brand of LEDs did you use? I've seen that some scatter light more than others.

Dontcha know that's the #1 rule of the internet for a LOT of folks?

Also, I'm still trying to figure out what RES4CUE meant. I'm guessing that "decontented" is supposed to be "discontinued", and "piece medaled" means "piece mealed." But who knows?

No not negative at all!

Decontented mans they are stock OEM lights but it's just the housings, no ballasts, bulbs, wiring, etc.

Piece mealed, means instead of buying the headlights put together he had to find all the parts separate and then assemble them.

Your last picture looks alot better than the 1st picture you posted. As long as it's not causing an issue for other drivers coming at you, i think they look like a good improvement. I like it.

This is almost a completely OEM set up. Projector housing, OEM harness (Internal harness), 35w ballasts, xenon bulbs...the only thing not OEM is the harness with the relay to make these work and I upgraded to a 6,000k bulb. That is a must if you didn't get the Xenon lights stock though, there is no other way around it. This is pretty much the same that you would get from the factory otherwise.

I have an entire thread on this subject and the process I had to go through to get the complete OEM set up on my truck. That said, again, I have only ballparked the adjustments because I don't have a flat surface to dial them in
