Headlamp fuse keeps blowing
 

Hey there

This is my first post. I just bought a hid conversion kit for my 2009 ford f150 xtr. I got it installed, the lights came on for about 2mins and they went out. I checked my fuses and both my low beam fuses and high beam fuse blew. I put new fuses in and they blew again. I bought them off ebay for $160 and the seller sold hundreds of kits and says he has never had this problem. should I believe him and get another kit or just get my money back. the kit was a 6000k 55w kit.Any suggestions.

I'd send the kit back. IMHO you paid too much. Check out DDMTuning.com.

check all your connections and grounds and if all good you may be able to try installing a larger fuse in place of the original but if it is a cheap kit it could have a bad ballast or something not good with the kit in genrall i never had any fuse problems with my kit from retro solutions!!

I put in 20 amp fuses and they still blew. so I then put in 25amp fuse and the left low beam stayed on and the right low beam fuse blew again. Im afraid of putting in a bigger fuse because I don't want to melt my oem harness. nobody else had this problem?

I only paid $90 for my bi-xenon kit in November.

I've never had any problem with my kit.

have you checked all wires and connections? and def check to make sure you have a good ground on both sides!! does your truck have automatic lights or do you turn them on manually?

yup checked all connections, even tries switching the complete harness and bulbs to the other side and it does the same thing. I think I just bought a crappy kit. Any suggestion on a good bi-xenon kit.

retro solutions is a good kit!! hmm i dont know maybe they sent you a bad harness could have a short in it or something!! oh and retro kits are lifetime guranteed i blew a ballast and no questions asked they had me send the bad one back and shortly after the new one was at my door!! and the ballast blew from my buddy hooking jumpers up to his car backwards along with every fuse in my god damn truck lol so it was not anything to do with the kit itself lol!!

I would return yours and get something else before it screws anything up too bad. If you're having to up the fuse size that much you're asking for trouble. I heard mixed reviews about the 55watt kits on our trucks. For some people they work fine, others fry their wiring.

I've heard lots of positive reviews about kits from myhid.com and retro-solutions.com.
