I read somewhere that you can take the head rest out and turn it 180 degree around so the angle is facing towards the back of the truck. I haven’t tried to do this yet, so I don’t know of this works. I will give it a try tonight.

Whew, I thought I was the only one. I took out the headrest with intentions of putting a pipe over chromed metal rods and "bending" the rods a few degrees until the angle was not so extreme. I did not find a good way to hold the padded part so I could torque the rods to bend. I did not take apart the padded portion to get to the frame that I may be able to use a vise to hold. When I have more time I may.

I took mine off, so now I have a good old fashioned seat with no headrest at all. Some other brands of truck, I don't think you can remove the new obnoxious headrests short of a hacksaw.

Default F150 2009 Headrests

I have an 09 F150 with the same issue. My wife is only five feet tall and has the same problem. I trried to take off the headread for her. I can't seem to remove the headrest. It seems to have some sort of captive system on it so that I can't remove it. How were you able to remove your headrest?

I'm 6'-4 and honestly, the head rest is just perfect with the seat slightly declined.

I thought i was the only one with the problem. I bought my 09 F150 and picked up a few friends for work. The only thing they didnt like about the whole truck was....... thats right, the headrest. I found that they are too far forward, so what I did was leaned my seat far enough back to make up for the bad angle engineering. Not only do I look "cool" now but it feels a little better.

Press the button by the side of each of the two pillars at the same time and it will slide out.

Default not just Ford

I test drove the new 2010 Mazda 3 and it is the same in it. I to thought this was an issue but I reclined another click (XLT No pwr seat!) and find it infinitely more comfortable than my 03. I'll bet most new vehicles will have this.

Are you sure? I've driven an FX4, Lariat, and Platinum and they all seem the same to me.

They bothered be at first, but after some adjustment of the headrest (up one notch), adjustment of the seat back, and adjustment of the seat bottom (slight decline), I found the seats extremely comfortable. I believe if you get the seat adjusted correctly, you will end up liking it. YMMV.
