OP: I feel your pain man! It sucks! We take pride in our trucks. I may just be a simple ridge runner who has done alright for himself, but that doesn't mean I want my truck looking like I bought it straight from Enterprise Rental.

I feel your pain. I've had crap done to my trucks before and it's never a good feeling. Guess I've been lucky with my 2010 as it's still scratch-free, although I did have to replace the grille just 5 days after I bought it when a bird knocked a hole right through it. No one's fault and unfortunately the bird paid with his life but it still sucked to have it happen to a new truck.

Even today I still park at or very near the end of a parking lot. It won't stay perfect forever but I intend to do what I can to delay that for as long as I can. If there's good news here it's that your paint is still new so if it's necessary to have it touched up there shouldn't be a problem getting a solid match.

I had a charcoal grey Silverado once that got scratched before I took delivery. I was PO'd but the dealer spot painted it to a perfect match. Stayed that way for the 11 years I owned that beautiful, gutless, gas drinking, flywheel-cracking buckboard wagon.

I do the same thing as all of you to try and prevent scratches, except I went one further: I bought a second vehicle to commute in and take to questionable lots (those lots that I don't know, or lots I know are packed). That way the truck stays home and doesn't get scratched. Also, it lets my truck work a higher percentage of the time I'm behind the wheel, hauling stuff

It's too bad the kids didn't at least let you know.

My three year old has learned quickly dad does not like a knuckle dragger (fingerprints or hands drug all down the side). I got my first battle scar on my own accord, "breaking her in right" as family put it you should always put the first scratch on yourself Turning radius on my 12 is way tighter than my 05, drug the bumper side down the fence backing in on day 2. So far, everyone I have talked to had one story or another about the first battle scar, even happened on my 05 on day 6.

You're a better man than me. I've had mine (a 2012 I bought used w/ 28k on it) for 2 weeks. I've washed it 3 times and I go over it daily looking for damage.

My wife says I have a problem...

A similar thing happened to my BIL's Tundra at Tawas Point State Park campground. He got up in the morning and walked around his truck to get in and had a huge scratch just like yours on the drivers side front fender.

A couple of years ago I had to ask a couple of boys to take their game of catch with a baseball to the athletic field at Hoffmaster SP as there were several close calls with a bouncing baseball dangerously close to my truck. Plenty of room on their site to play catch but they had to do it right next to my new truck.
