Default Hauling a canoe

Hey I am looking for a way to haul my 16 foot canoe and be able to tie it down without having the straps touch my hood. I have a 2011 screw 5.5' bed. And I need the hitch receiver for my camper. Any help would be appreciated, especially with pics.

Thanks

I'm going to give this a try, and get the wide and extra tall version. I also have a 16 foot canoe to carry, and want to pull our camper. I just installed a front 2" receiver too, and it's working great for the bike carrier.

Thanks for the info.

How did you install the front 2" receiver?

I was kind of hoping for a cheaper way without looking like Sanford and Sons (not saying that way would give me that look).

The hitch just bolted on, no cutting, no removing any air deflectors/valences. $129
It was made for the EcoBoost, but fits great on my 5.0.

That front hitch and the Yakima DryDock Boat Kayak Canoe Carrier Hitch Mount give me an idea.

I have the Adarac by Access, which allows me to use the front or rear bar, or both, and to position them anywhere along the side rails that attach to the stake pockets. The rails stay on and are great for extra tie down points. I have a home made rear hitch 'T' post, and use that with the front bar of the bed rack for my canoe (like a headache rack). I use both bed rack bars spaced closer than normal to haul several shorter kayaks easily. My 'T' post is welded to a flat 2x6" piece of steel, drilled for a trailer ball post on one end. So I can have that T offset and "bolted" to the trailer hitch by using the hitch ball if I want to tow too. I also have a Truxedo Lo Pro tonneau on it, and can roll up it up, or pop it off in seconds if needed. I use my truck like a Leatherman tool, able to change configurations within minutes to haul whatever I need. I love it!
