Something I started doing a while ago is blanking out the address on the registration kept inside our vehicles so our address is not available from that. Also, on your GPS set your "home" to a gas station or some other business near your house but not on the same block as your house. That way they aren't led right to your home with the clicker to open your garage.

Mighty Ford
Here's a thought, see someone screwing with somebody's car, shoot em. No questions, no mercy. We can stick together and tell the police that the deceased was attacking me, so self defense. Our laws and lawyers have screwed our system up. I get so aggravated that I have to spend my money to protect my stuff from other losers that have no right to be breathing. Maybe I'm being harsh but has happened to me a couple times as I too live near the Houston ****hole.

CFalls, hit us like a ton of bricks the last two years or so. 10 overdose deaths so far this year. We even made national news over the four high school students we lost over the summer. Every small city from Medina to Elyria to Mentor to Warren to New Philly seem to be getting hit hard.

Long story short back in my dads college days him and a couple of his frat guys came out of a store and found a thief had broken into one of their cars and was working on stealing something. He had the door open and was kneeling into the car.
My dads friend snuck up and basically slammed the entire door on the thief, crushing his sternum, rolled him over out of the car and left.
Always makes me think about what I'd do if I caught someone in my truck.

I leave my top down almost ALL the time and make sure to put anything valuable in the trunk PRIOR to reaching my destination so there is NOTHING of value inside the cabin. I mean NOTHING, not even a pack of gum. Have not had an issue with something stolen nor the top cut. In the off chance I have to park with the top up, I still practice not keeping ANYTHING inside the cabin.
The guy must have been from around me as he kept his back to my cameras the whole time. He knew where they were.

Yup, my GPS HOME is the local police station. The vehicle registration is a copy with the address blacked out.
As for the Garage door opener, I have those, never to be left in the car.

Since this didn't happen at your residence, and it's out and about in bad areas.....
Your only options are
A. Drive a beater to work.
B. Park in a more secure location.
My brother is a Union operator in Chicago and he works in some very bad areas.
At stoplights they're brazen enough to reach into your vehicle and grab things.
