Issue: Dash warning to ‘Service AdvanceTrac’ keeps popping up

The error message is usually displayed after doing a sharp or full lock turn.

Possible Solutions:
  • Temporary- Straighten out your steering wheel and reset your truck.
  • Sticks may have gotten stuck in your wheel and simply need to be dislodged.
  • Reprogramming via dealer
  • Wheel sensor needs to be replaced
  • New steering rack

Mine was similar. Came on more frequently as time progressed.
The dealer could not fix it because it was not leaving a code and it would not be on when I took it in.
Finally the reprogrammed it and it went away.

There is a TSB flash upgrade that fixes the Ghost in the Machine meritless service Advance Trac error codes.

Have you dealer run the flash then double check for errors.

Mine does it usually about once a month. I usually just ignore it and go on. Was worse until I tuned the truck. That seemed to help somehow.

Yeah, I'm not worried about it, but hope whatever it is doesn't fail after my warranty ends!

Very true. Only part that can be annoying is sometimes it disables my blinker from staying on which is quite annoying having to hold the dang thing down every time you want to turn. Has only done that a handful of times though.

Hi Kidastra,

I would like to help! Have you taken the vehicle to your dealer for diagnosis? Please share more details including the model, year, and odometer reading; I will look into the available resources.

I had this same thing happen yesterday while sitting in a parking lot with the truck running. The dash flashed, gauges bounced on zero for about 5 seconds and the center info screen reset. Then the service message and light came on and didn't go off until I switched the truck off and back on.
This in in addition to the 02 Sensor Code that keeps coming back......
