Default Has anyone installed cab lights on an F150?

I want to install amber running lights on my roof, but would like to hear from anyone who has done it.

Funny you ask. I ordered my Recon ones last week, awaiting arrival. On Youtube, I saw a video of someone installing a set on a Dodge. The roof liner needs to be at least pried down to get the wiring all snugged up.

If you can wait a while, I'll take a shot at it and report back. I'd like to hear from anyone about popping the liner at least down at the front.

Cool. I saw the RECON lights to order, too. Do you know if the LED's are replaceable?
My only concern with the installation is, of course, drilling through the roof! From experience, after the holes are drilled, the exposed fresh steel needs to be coated with a good promer to prevent corrosion.
I am anxious to see your results and hear about the dificulty involved.
Good luck.

The LEDs won't be easily replaceable. I assume once the cap is pried off, you could solder replacements in, but LEDs technically last forever so there should be no real reason to replace.

For the holes, silicone will be my poison.

Hey I LIKE the lights, that is one classy automobile. I guess the last thing the owner of that vehicle is concerned about is whether or not he ends up with a roof leak!

They would look STUPID on a F-150. On a big old 350 and up they are required in some states.
If you wanted a "real truck" you should have bought one.

While you are at it put some of those lights underneath the truck too.

I think its a personal choice, as well, it depends on the type/kind that are done. Recon has a low profile, clear, but orange when lit, LED set. When off, on a hite truck, you don't notice them.

BTW, I have Varad white LED strips under mine. Not the million colour dancing/strobing kind, just plain white.

I'd say with, or without these, my truck is still real.
