I have a 2009.
I haven't compared the mounting points on the running boards so I'm not sure how much modification would be needed.

Haven't done that, but did put the running boards that were on my 2005 F150 Supercab with 6.5' box on my then new 2014 F150 Supercab with 8' box.

I still want to do this. ebay seems to be the best place unless someone is selling them local to get OEM running boards. the 2018 models looks to be thinner but still as wide. i'm not a fan of the small FX4 boards i have now.

Thats exactly the board swap I was considering.
My wife requires the boards to get into the truck & I use them to save the corner of the seat.

I was wondering this aswell. I seen that old thread before but was wondering if the mounting brackets would fit up to the body of the truck without having to modify anything

I know it's not exactly what you are asking, but I swapped for newer ones on my 11. I know they are not from 15 and up.
That being said, I did have to drill and tap the new boards to fit the old mounts as the mounting holes were nowhere close. I also had to shorten the mount under the board. Easy to do, it just takes some of your time.
