Isn't there a position switch on the light itself that controls how it operates?

Check on the dome light it's self. Mine has 3 positions, on, auto on when door open, and off. In the middle position I can control the dome light with the dimmer ****.

I checked my dome light. there are no buttons at all. just the 2 comaprtments for the sunglasses. the lights I push when door is closed and auto light is off. I can turn them on that way. But they are no longer controled trough the switch... hmm

Owners manual says that the lights remain on when doors are on.. but this is a lie... I remmber clearly because I offroad alot at night.. i would flip the dimmer switch all the way down until it would click and the ligts would turn off.

Does the tail gate have anything to do with this?
