Default Harley Grille Swap

Hey guys,
I searched through a bunch of forums on grille swaps, but I couldn't find a definitive answer to my question lol, so here it goes:

I have a 2012 Sterling Grey FX2. I want to swap the grille for a 2011/2012 Harley Grille, *BUT* I don't want to change the grille surround. I want to use my sterling grey grill surround, and just replace the "billet" section of the grill.

Anyone tried this, or know if it's even possible?

Also, while i'm here, anyone have a Harley and want to get rid of the grille?

Let me know your opinions, you guys have way more knowledge than me when it comes to this stuff!!

I think your best bet will be to get the Harley grille and paint the surround to match. As far as I know, all of the factory grilles are one-piece molded plastic and aren't designed to remove/replace the center. It would take a lot of custom modding to get that to work, and it's probably easier just to paint the grill surround, IMO.

I believe you can swap the inside of the grill. I have painted these grills apart. I'm just not sure if a harley inside will just bolt right up perfect to your truck.

^^not necessary, no painting will be required. You can separate the surround from the inner bars on the Harley grille, and on the FX grilles too. The XLT, Lariat and Platinum grilles are the one-piece grilles that don't come apart. There's an owner on here that did this swap on his black FX4 if you do a search.

Cool. Yeah, I remember when we paint f150's at my work we do take the grills apart, so it is easier to paint. And I just checked out my truck...looks like its just bolted in. Should be easy to swap.

wow, you must either deeper pockets or a lot more desire than I ;-) . those Harley Grille's are EXPENNNNNNNSIVE!!!!
I too want to do this, but I refuse to pay $600+ for a factory grille. its just not worth THAT kind of money.
I do think they are THE best looking grille options for our trucks, followed closely by the XLT "custom" model grille.
