When in doubt, run a new dedicated wire from the battery. If you have several items that you are going to be installing, run thicker gauge wire into a *fused* distribution block and branch off from there. Never tap into an *existing* power wire with anything that is going to be drawing any kind of load (i.e. 12v power outlet).

Use a 12v Bosch-style relay for anything you want to only turn on when the car is on. Use switches AND relays for anything you want a switch on.

12V Bosch-Style Relay:


Pin 30 = 12V+ Source
Pin 85 = Ground
Pin 86 = Your car's ACC
Pin 87 = What ever accessory you are trying to power
Pin 87a = Leave it alone
