Default Hard Shift

I was looking for some insight....I have a 2009 F150 XLT with 6 speed transmission, and I just recently noticed that it is beginning to shift hard going from drive to reverse and it also appears to shift hard from 1-2 gear. My truck is still under the 3/36,000 warranty.....any thoughts or suggestions?

Have the tranny "re-flashed" if you fall under the VIN #'s for that. There are TSBs posted here that list VIN numbers etc..

Or, have your dealer "clear" the codes on the transmission so it has to relearn how you drive. Then, drive it like you stole it.........floor it from stops and in general, more aggressively than you normally do. I did that and now mine behaves like a normal transmission. (I normally drive easy.)

Hope that helps.

I have the same model and recently had them reflash mine. It shifts a lot better now. My issue was mainly between 2nd and 3rd.

Default Update.....Any thoughts?

So I just received the call from my dealer, I took my truck back because I noticed a hard shift from drive to reverse, and also from 1-2. Well after three days, they just called to tell to me it was a bad cam phaser? What in the heck is a cam phaser and would that be what would make it shift hard? Thanks!

Another good tip is, when you park on a hill or incline shift into nuetral keeping your foot on the brake and put your parking brake on, then put it into park. Then when you start up shift into drive and release the parking break. It works wonders trust me. You shouldnt feel that nasty jolt from shifting into drive or reverse.
