Default Remove / Delete Key Fob

It is my understanding that you can have up to eight keys but only four keyless fobs. I have three working fobs that have three buttons. I know there was at least one other three button fob programmed to this truck. I did all the necessary changes with Forscan to activate the remote start and got a Ford four button key fob. The problem is when I try to program the keyless entry part of the four button fob the horn honks. Everything I've read says you can only have four fobs and I'm trying to program a fifth one. How do I delete all fobs and start over? I tried using Forscan to delete all of the keys and reprogrammed The two original keys. However that did not change the keyless entry fobs that were programmed. Any ideas?

Thanks,

jr

When you cycle the ignition eight times on/off; that is what begins the learning process for the fobs.
If you are getting a honk; then I'm guessing the fob is not compatible.

What happens if you cycle ignition eight times; then try using one of your known working three-button fobs?
Do the locks cycle when you push on of those buttons?

The new key is a factory Ford key with the correct FCC ID. Once the ignition has been cycled 8 times and the locks cycle no matter which fob I try I get a honk.

I'm not entirely sure; but perhaps it has something to do with the "allow customer keys" in forscan.
Did you use forscan to enable your remote start?
Is it possible the option that allows customer key programming has been disabled?

The customer add is enabled because I was able to add the other remotes. I think the problem is related to already having four remotes programmed.

thanks,

Programming new fobs erases existing fobs in succession meaning if 4 are already programmed when the 1st new is programmed , the last fob in the list is removed automatically .

If I had to guess why you're getting the horn honk is because one of the door ajar switches is reading open or the hood switch .

That's good to know. Thank you.

I have not checked the hood switch. Door jam seem to be functioning as they should. Just read that the reprogramming the fobs deletes all remotes. So it appears that I am unable to reprogram at this point.

And to make matters worse the door are locking and unlocking as soon as I turn the ignition to on. This started after deleting all PATS keys with Forscan and reprogramming.

Check the hood switch connector, sometimes disconnecting it and reconnecting it a couple times refreshes the pin/socket inside. Close hood, get in and close all doors then cycle the key 8x on/off ending in the on position when the locks cycle, press any button on first fob, 2nd fob etc ending with turning the ignition off. Locks cycle one last time to let you know programming mode has exited.

Before you do any programming connect a battery charger as the process can cause a low enough voltage to throw the whole system off. You can run the cables from the charger thru the passenger fender well so the hood stays closed.

Will try all of the above. Thank you!

Have any idea why my door locks are now locking and unlocking each time I turn the ignition key to the on position? I have tried the steps to deavtivate autolock and autounlock.

Thank you!
