Had to laugh at this Ford saleswoman....

^^^ What he said
I didn't need/want a SoccerMom truck, so the extended S-Cab was plenty enough room for pooch and me plus did want 6.5' bed box vs 5.5'. That, plus desire for biggest normally aspirated vs "puffer" motor led me to my (sig) truck. Hey, fits inside my garage too!
So then I say, give that "Ford saleswoman" a break w/o criticism 'cus she is essentially correct. Ford builds what majority of buyers want and dealers can sell. My odd bird truck greatly appeals to me but not the majority. Likely not before found in dealer inventory and now never ever again...

There's no way recirc ball gives more feedback. You have no clue what the front wheels are doing. That is the beauty of rack and pinion. And the steering response is better too. I'd rather have the better handling of rack and pinion. I can't stand driving the super duties because of the pre-historic steering system
The steering in the superduty is literally the worst I've ever felt. The steering wheel feels like a suggestion box. Zero feedback, too many turns lock to lock, scary when accelerating, just horrible. I don't even know how you can control a trailer with that. Rack and pinion is the best thing that has ever happened to a pickup truck's front end. So much more control and feel.
But because the Superduty still uses a straight axle and the 150's have had IFS for years, The Superduty still uses an ancient and ever-frightening steering box.

A salesman walked out and asked me what I was interested in, told me they had over 100 trucks in stock and they were sure to have what I wanted. I specified that I wanted a 2014 White or Tan SCAB Lariat Plus Max Tow 6 and 1/2 foot bed EcoBoost. He got this vacant look on his face and told me that he would have to search their inventory and he would call me later at home. Although I thought this odd that they would blow a customer off the lot this way, I did drive around their lot to look at what they had in stock. Indeed, nothing matched my requirements.
About an hour later at home, we got a call from a woman saleslady who said that basically the first salesman didn't know anything about trucks, but she does, and she sells more trucks than any other person there.................well, OK.
She again asked what I wanted, and after I described the above again, she said she could not get that for me "because no one wants a truck like that, and that's why we don't have one in stock."
I thanked her for her time, and said that in that case, I was going to wait for a 2016 -- and she quickly corrected me rather rudely -- "You mean a 2015!" I explained that there was too much new on the next (2015) F 150 and that I'd rather wait for the second year of production. She then did at least offer to look around at other dealers to see if she could actually find what I wanted, but informed me again that she did not think that anyone would have one.
As of this afternoon, I've not heard back from her -- do you think that I will?

Hold out for what you want. It's your money. I stopped by my local Ford store to see if they had anything interesting. I told the guy I wanted certain options, the main being a 2 wheel drive, 5.0. Not a two wheel drive truck on the lot. He checked his computer and found 2 trucks matching my want list. Handed up dx'ing the truck from a dealer in Virginia. 190 miles away. I'm happy, he sold a truck, and my wife is over the moon with the truck. She sold Fords for a while in the nineties and was even the truck manager at one dealership. She really beat up on the salesman and got us a great deal. Keep trying. You will get what you want. Don't settle for second best.

I remember when I was shopping and stopped at a dealer that didn't have what I wanted on the lot. One of the major items that I wanted was max tow. The salesman offered to put it on a truck that they already had. He was, of course, referring to the mirror. Idiot.
