Guide - 13/14 MFT 8in screen to Sync 3 with Android Auto/Carplay
#14
I'm reviving this thread to see if I could get some advice from the 13/14 MFT to Sync 3 experts. I recently upgraded my '13 FX4 from MFT to Sync 3. For the most part, everything is working great. EXCEPT for the heated/cooled seats. I have 7D0-01-01 set to xxxx xxxx x2xx, and the heated/cooled seats icon show up. I can click on them, but nothing happens when I do. The color icons indicating the level the seats are set at don't light up, and the seats don't heat up or cool down.
I'm open to any suggestions anyone might have!

Update: so last night after programming the unit, I couldn't get the heated/cooled seats to work. This morning, I went to go put gas in the truck and everything was working! I have a feeling I wasn't letting the unit stay powered off long enough for the changes to take effect. Now, that everything is working, I'm so glad I made the upgrade.
As a tip For anyone upgrading a 13/14 f150 with heated/cooled seats but no heated steering wheel, consider pulling as built data from a 2016 Taurus limited with the base 300A package. I spent days trying to find a vehicle that has 1) heated/cooled seats but no heated steering wheel and 2) controls for the heated /cooled seats only on the sync unit (no physical buttons), and the 300A '16 taurus was the one.

How's the audio quality on Sync3 vs Sync2?
I've always been disappointed with the low-frequncy cutting on the Sync2. After some issues with my factory speakers, I've upgraded to Infinity Kappas; the speakers have better sound capability than the Sync2 is able to produce unfortunately.
I plan on adding a sub at some point to help with the low end, just haven't gotten around to it.

I would love to go aftermarket; unfortunately I've yet to find a system that would retain the function of the Heated/Cooled seats. My truck doesn't have the physical buttons, activation through MFT only.

Great write-up. I'll keep all this in mind in case I get the bug to go sync 3. I just switched to mft from 4.2" screen in my 13 xlt. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but for values in forscan, I found that the 2015-2016 forscan spreadsheet was very detailed and helpful. It covers mostly sync3 stuff, but a good bit of sync2 stuff is in there also. I used it to troubleshoot a couple things and remove seat icons and such.
