Got SYNC3
Yeah, honestly, as an in-dash experience, it's not bad, but i've never tried another F150 to see what that experience is like. I don't think i need/want to change anything in the meantime, bluetooth works fine and the nav experience is alright if i ever need it.

sync 3 w/ NAV (different APIM). albeit, i haven't used it much since i've been using carplay. actually don't even think i have used it at all. I'll use WAZE for my work commute and Google or Apple maps when needed.
ebay. no links, just need to search on ebay. check this thread.

I was referring to the cost to upgrade to Sync 3 from 4D tech (https://www.4dtech.com/13-14-ford-f1...-myford-touch/ - the only unit I found at the time I searched). I have the Sync 2 my Ford Touch with Sony nav. I wasn't aware they had much cheaper units on ebay that's why I was shocked reading this post. I left a comment about upgrading the firmware just in case anyone else was having the buggy/glitchy issues with sync 2 and didn't want to spend any money as it resolved my issues.
The almost $700 cost I mentioned was referring to this link "https://www.ebay.com/itm/283843878875" posted by Greg150 above, which is $629"

I believe all navigation apps that I've used thus far (Waze, Apple Maps, Google Maps) will utilize the GPS signal from Sync instead of the built-in GPS in iPhones. I say this because a couple times my Sync 3 navigation had gotten completely screwed up and showed my position so far off course, on both the built-in nav as well as when I checked on my go-to iPhone nav apps via CarPlay. Maybe this has something to do with the issues I'm experiencing with Waze when I deviate from its planned routes, which I've never experienced with Apple and Google Maps.
This was under Sync 3.4 build 19274 with NA Maps v1.18; I'm now on 3.4 build 20021 and NA Maps v1.19 and I haven't yet experienced having Sync 3 Nav get "lost" thus far...

FYI, for me, the current version of Waze when connected via CarPlay will completely get stuck and constantly repeat the same navigation cue over and over and over no matter how far you've travelled past it IF you ever veer off-course from its planned route. This has happened to me every time with no fix that I've seen (I haven't reported this bug yet, but I should). Even after disconnecting from CarPlay, Waze will still be stuck on my iPhone and I'd have to cancel the navigation entirely to fix it.

OLD thread... I know, I know. I recently did a Sync2 to a Sync3 upgrade... and now I have a rattle that appears to actually be a product of the unit itself and not the benzel, clips, etc.
Has anyone experienced this before?

Obviously something is loose. Only way to find out is open ‘er up again and yank the APIM and screen out then shake ‘em to see if something loose inside. If not them, drive around without those installed and see if you can get the rattle and isolate it.
