In this case it wouldn't have mattered. The guy behind me hit me and then pushed up beside me on the left. The guy behind him hit him hard and spun the guy behind me into me sideways and smashed in the rear quarter panel. I got tagged twice.

Yep, me too. I would never put that on my truck but each their own. Plus I would smack my leg on it every time I came around the back.
Honestly it's not what other people like or dislike, it's what you like. Doesn't matter how many yea's or nea's.
OP, glad you are OK and your truck is getting fixed.

Truck is on the mend
My wife stopped the body shop last week to check on the truck's progress. Been a little slow (insurance company is dragging their feet), but she's coming together. Most of the bits are out of the paint booth and the bed is back on the truck. There was a slight mis-match between the hood and front fenders, so I ok'd a bit of paint feathering for the front fenders to blend the paint (to the tune of 500 extra dollars...Ouch!).
Wife told me that the body shop guy told her it was a bit "nerve wracking" to cut 2 holes in the brand new bumper for my Rigid backup lights! Ha, ha...If I can do it, they can too! I did take the opportunity to upgrade the b/u lights to the full diffusion lights. Hopefully they will spread the light better and not create the white washout in the backup camera like the quad-spots did.
Anyway, here's some pics of the progress:

For the OP, which local shop did you use? I did not get in a wreck, but have a few small dents/dings that I would like fixed. I-4 is horrible due to distracted drivers and that wreck could have been much worse, so consider yourself lucky. I saw a lady the other day reading a book while eating a bowl of cereal or something while driving over the St. Johns bridge. Since the construction has started I have been taking the train, much less stress.

That'll really damage the frame when/if you're hit from behind , and you risk getting whiplash.
I guess to each their own, I have a trailer hitch in my truck. Glad everyone is ok OP, your truck will be like new once repaired.

The truck is out of the body shop!
Finally! After 2 months and 2 days, it's finally fixed and they gave me the keys. Battery was dead, so we had to buy some jumper cables (I'm sure I have a set, but dang if I can find them!) and jump it from the wife's car. Drove it right to Batteries Plus and they put in a new battery for me.
Anyway, here she is, home safe and sound:
