I've had my fair share of tickets during my teen years, every single one of said tickets was well deserved. Not once did I come away from those tickets saying/thinking its the cops fault.

Yeah, that's what it's about... I'm pretty sure I work my *** off, all hours of the day and night, away from my family, trying to keep drunk drivers, drug dealers, thieves, etc. away from you and your family. Once they get to a courtroom it's out of our hands. Adjust your tinfoil hat and log off the interwebs for a while.

Why even knock it down? I'm pretty sure the "ticket" part of it is just the same if you're going 1 mph over up to 25 mph over. So let's say the ticket is $265 (and in some states 2 pts against your license). In your situation I believe the penalty is the same up to 80 mph.

What a jerk-off either way. Sit there and develop a rapor with you just to give you a ticket. I bet he totally got off knowing that he was making you feel good, all-the-while knowing he was going to give you a ticket and ruin your day. Either give the ticket and stay the course or don't, but to sit there and chit-chat with you and then give you a ticket seems really mean.

Just like those that work for the airlines, I have to pay ungodly amounts of money to fly and now bring along a checked bag but they get a pass. It sucks for me but if I wanted to fly free I would work for the airlines.

Now do I go around with a cavalier attitude and drive reckless? No but it is nice that those times when you're going along and get picked up you catch a break. I fully expect a ticket and am honest with them. I'm to old to be making stupid excuses or receiving lectures, I would either lie a pass or write and send me on my way.

Nor gonna lie, was cruising through WV in the middle of the night. Doing about 85 on freeway, I'm the only one on the road. I come around a corner and bam there is a cop aiming radar across the top of the car in the median. I pulled over to the right shoulder before he could get in his car and pull across behind me. He hits me with the brights and walks up and asks if I'm a fireman, I said I was paid in Va and he said have a nice night and thank you for not making me go after you before pulling over.

It's nice to have the union fire plates.
I was waiting for someone to hit on that.. I have a small/subtle USMC sticker in the place of where the dealership logo was for that very reason.

How did I know this would turn into a Cop/LEO debate? Too funny!! Question for all of you saying police/EMS/firefighters/military don't deserve a break in their personal vehicles.. Did it ever occur to you they give other people breaks too? What about bartenders giving other bartenders/waiters a little extra alcohol in their drink? Is that bartender corrupt? Oh my god, he must be collaborating with the crooked police..Or golf pros letting other golf pros play a round for free on their course? Or Business owners letting another business owners borrow something "for free"?? It's not just a cop thing.. It's called LIFE..mutual respect.. paying it forward.. karma.. knowing youll need a favor one day.. Respect for someone who does the same work/works in same industry as you.. Maybe you guys don't, but I'm sure as hell gonna cut people a break/"hook them up" if there's even a 1% POSSIBILITY I will EVER run across them again (in a small town, working in the same industry, it's almost a certainty).. So next time someone is helping you out because they realize they might be on the other side of the table next time, go ahead and stop them.. Tell them no thanks.. Off-duty cops shouldn't get breaks and neither should you.. So when you order $10,000 worth of material/product and forgot a few things so you have to call back and re-order.. Don't be shocked when you have to pay a separate shipping charge, re-stocking fee, and wait 24 hours till you order again.."But dude, I just ordered, c'mon man can't you help me out??" Why should you get special treatment just because you're in the same industry?? Off-duty LEOs shouldn't get special treatment so neither should you..
