And yup. You're right. My bad. Leveling is the way to go everyone. It's good for your front end.

gr8hntr...you wouldn't call this a catastrophic failure?

Lets summarize for those that don't want to read all this trash being slung for 13 pages.

TRUE LIFT KITS:
1) Better suspension angles
2) Made for some abuse
3) Options to go higher safely
4) Need to cut parts and weld
5) Need aftermarket wheels
6) No going back
7) Price with kit, install, wheels etc
9) LOOKS AWESOME, IS THE BEST WAY IF YOU WANT TO GO HIGH, AND DON'T NEED TO RETURN TO STOCK.

LEVEL KITS:
1) Price reasonable
2) Can use stock wheels
3) Allows 35's without making truck too tall for garages etc
4) Can be returned to stock easy
5) Lots of options
6) WILL increase wear on parts, how much and fast is in debate
7) Spacer kinds are not made for off road, over droops suspension. Will however take light use.
8) 5100's, Procomp, Rancho lift leveling struts can take abuse, and are still affordable. They still change angles, so may wear some parts out quicker, but lessen the crazy angles.
9) GOOD CHOICE FOR LIFTING ENOUGH FOR LARGER TIRES, AFFORDABLE, DEPENDING ON KIT OFFERS BETTER COMPONENTS THAN STOCK, BEST FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO HAVE THE OPTION TO RETURN TO STOCK.

If I missed something let me know. Really apples to oranges comparison. Working at a Ford store in rural WI, I see EVERY kind of lift and level kit known to man and anytime you have something modified, you run the risk of breaking something, hell even the stock stuff breaks...

I suppose the thing I did miss is the BEST option. True hard core coil-over kits. If you use your truck to really off road, this is BY FAR the best and most expensive way to go! You can however return to stock when done abusing and trading in.

Very good!

The only thing I would change is with a lift (depending upon the brand) you can use stock wheels. Skyjacker is the only one (that I know of) that requires larger wheels because of the beefier steering knuckle. Otherwise excellent post!

I think most lifts require less backspacing than stock has. I could be wrong, but I have heard guys that are dead set on using stock wheels having to use wheel spacer/adapters to clear everything. I still am going to save my pesos for a Camburg or RPG coilovers with uniball UCA's. Then I can get a full 3-3.5" and beat the living hell out of it.
