Default Got a 2012 last weekend and have a few questions

Picked up a '12 XLT super crew 4x4 last weekend. Only options were the convenience package and bucket seats. Truck is black, and I'm thinking about completely blacking the whole thing out. I absolutely love it. Had a '02 Supercrew Lariat FX4 before and sold it a few years ago. I really missed driving a truck. Everything is good on the truck now, had to use the warranty and road side assist 25 hours after leaving the dealer. The part of the ignition that reads the programming in the keys went south and I couldn't get the truck started. Talked to the service guys where I got the truck and where it was taken and they couldn't believe it. Said the only time they'd seen that before was on remote-starter installs.

I've read mixed reviews on when to make the first oil change. Some have said 500 miles others have said to just go on the normal routine. Also, for warranty purposes should I just take it in for the oil changes so they know they're done or is it safe to do it myself?

Thanks,
Matt

I waited 9000 kms until my first oil change as this is what the dealer told me to do. Didn't cause any problems.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was surprised that some guys were saying to do it at 500.

Some people are just really **** with that kind of stuff, which is fine since its their truck and their money. I did my first at 5000 miles and my truck hasn't had any problems

500 miles might have been necessary 40 years ago. Not with today's engines though. Old habits die hard.
