I was just offered $26,000 yesterday by Carmax for my loaded '09 FX4 with 34k miles. For reference, I paid $38,000 for it a year and a half ago and still owe $29,000 on it. I waived the rebates for 0% financing.

Man, now you guys are making me think I got taken for a ride lol.

Whats the MSRP on a new loaded FX4? You guys are talking over 20k off a 2 year old truck?

I know these things depreciate like crazy, but thats even crazier. The first year they usually drop 10k or so off MSRP just from rebates, etc alone. That's a 20% depreciation hit. If you are talking another 10k+ in the second year you are taking over 40% off the trucks value in depreciation in the first two years, that seems pretty high even for a full size pickup.

First off, MSRP is irrelevant. Anyone that pays MSRP for a new truck is crazy.

You can usually get 10k+ off of MSRP. Thats what the original owner paid most likely.

When he traded it in, who knows what he settled for. 28,300 for an 09 with 30k miles is too much around here. I got my '10 with 11k miles for 27 out the door. Granted it's an xlt with lots of options and not an FX4...but it's a year newer and a third the miles.

Depends on your market though, i have no idea what the market is like in your location.

A fully loaded FX4 is 50k In Fla and NJ I looked at several, but some guys say it's loaded if the msrp was 43k then it's not loaded it has a few options.

Hahhaa. . . . I was thinking that!

Anyways, I have the truck home in my driveway. No deal made yet, but after giving it a good going over (about 1.5 hour in the driveway, my fiance thinks I'm nuts) I can say that the truck is in excellent condition. I don't like the fact that they put Goodyear Eagle LS2 on the truck. Also, there is no bedliner in the truck what-so-ever. My last gripe is that it is only the 5.5' bed. I'd prefer the 6.5.

I am going to drop it back to the dealer tomorrow. My plan is to walk in, tell them if they want to sell the truck they'll have to meet what I want. I'll give them $26,000 for the truck and take $9,000 for my trade. If they don't meet my asking price I am out the door.

Does anyone know where I can find the original window stick on the truck?

So a (more then likely) final update. Went to drop the truck off yesterday. Salesmen asked me how I liked it, I said it was good but there are a few things I didn't like (listed in previous posts). He said, well, we're all in, we can't move anymore. . . We'll be giving it away (at which point I laughed). I counter with well, if you want the sale today, I'll pay $26,000 for the truck and we have a deal. He said, nope, we're all in at the $28,300 price. We can't move at all from there. I said, alright, have a nice day and walked out. My fiance was with me and she said that she thinks the salesman hated me . I guess he was pissed I wasn't willing to overpay for the truck. I think he overplayed how much I liked the vehicle. I told him from the get go that I don't need a new truck right now, I like my dodge just fine (don't flame me!). Guess he forgot to take into account that fact.

Anyways, thanks for the advice from everyone, I'll still be lurking around these forums. . . eventually I'll be getting an F150 FX4 Screw. I definitely fell in love with the truck. I'm looking at what the price of a new FX4 would set me back. Better financing options so the difference may not be as great as I was thinking.

If he was willing to include the TT&L on that $28,300, it wouldn't have been that bad of a deal, IMO.

As for me, I might be getting rid of my truck. I like it, but I also need a more practical monthly payment, so I'm looking to downsize in price. Maybe a '97-'03 Screw FX4. I always loved the way those sat up from the factory. Right now though I'm upside down, so it all depends on who can meet or get close enough to my payoff. Things work out and I could knock my monthly payment in half and put it towards more important things.

I just bought my 07 with 48 k and had to pay 24k for it . Here in Ohio they hold there value . I looked at an 05 for 20k (not an FX4) . It was lifted and had wheels , tires , a hood , hard bed cover , and tint . It sold fast . I could have bought a 2010 Brand new for 34k plus tax but I only had 2500 to put down and didn't want the 600+ / month payment .
