I've had 18's and 20's with the same overall size tire and notice zero difference in ride quality. Now handling, I noticed a difference, as the taller sidewall seemed to squirm a bit more, but it was mostly noticed during turn in or directional changes, not all the time. The 18's were about 10 lbs lighter than the 20's, so that seemed to make a small difference in mpg and acceleration, but not a drastic difference.

Biggest thing to me, is the 20's just look funny without at least a 35" tire on a 4x4, or lowered and tucked on a 2wd.

18s all the way. I had 22s, and 20s on my last F150, and will never go back.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, based on what I have read so far, it seems like rim size 18x9 and 275/70/18 tire is the max we can run on a stock FX4 without a lift?

Not too sure if there is any offset room I can play with though, I would prefer the wheels are flushed with the fender, unless it sticks out too much, I will just order the bushwrecker fender flares.

I would be interested to know that as well Darkz. Stocks are 275/65/18 so that's barely a difference at all.

I went from the stock 20" to 18" Fuel Kranks with 275/70-18 (33.2") which is a +1 size (stock is 32").

There's many factors that contribute to the ride quality. I went with BFG AT/KO's LT and they ride a little rougher than the stock 20" Pirelli tires and wheels because they're LT's and weigh more. The Pirelli's are P rated so they're more compliant over bumps.

The wheels are 18x9 with 5.75" backspacing (ET +20) and they come out a bit more than the stock wheels but also look more flush than stock.

You should also consider that bigger tires will also suck your MPG, especially in city driving. I lost a couple of mpg with the new tires and adding an Edge programmer.

Thanks for confirming the info bobby, I was actually thinking to get fuel hostage wheel, so our setup should not be too far apart. This helps a lot man!!
