GM guys chatting about ECO
I was spying on a GM forum lol. I wanted to see what they were saying about the Ecoboost.
Here are some quotes, on GM trucks.com Chevy guys worried about The ECO lol.
"I've been watching the You-Tube Videos of Ford's new Ecoboost. It's quite the marketing scheme. However, that ecoboost really beats up on the 5.3...any ideas what GM has in mind to compete with this motor? Also, when are we going to get the option of a 6.5ft box in the half ton crew cabs? Come on GM, hear your people!"
"i raced him to in my 5.3 z71 4x4 ext cab and if i had a tune and didnt have the torq management stuff i think i would run dead even with him. he pulled me off the line. he got a truck out and never pulled stayed dead even till cutoff. i was at his bumper!"
"I've got a tune and ca intake and though we didn't line up we did race and he was pullin, may be cause I have the four speed but that thing will go! Hopefully when I get my new exhaust, headers, gears, and cam swap, ill let him eat my dust lol"
"so, back on topic........ someone said the 6.2L was a better match for the EcoBoost. How would you come to that conclusion? the Eco Boost is a V6. That puny little V6 can run with or out run the average V8 all day long if it wants to and when it's done it can get dramatically better fuel economy on the highway ride home. GM doesn't need to build a race truck, they need a truck that is appealing to the average person. That's going to be a truck with ample power to carry a load when needed and achieve reasonable fuel economy when it's not."
"The point is not that it has a turbo, or what that engine or some other engine will or won't do with a turbo bolted on or taken off, or what you can or can't or will or won't do with engine tuning. The point is that Ford offers an engine at a reasonable price that delivers good power, better torque, and (relatively) great fuel efficiency. Oh, with a class leading tow rating and a nice powertrain warranty, too. In comparison, my truck makes a good deal more HP, a little more torque, and far worse fuel effieciency."

These guys are actually having a pretty informative convo. I'm impressed with actual facts being thrown around. However, with liver 93v2 tune... I have smoked 5.3 by 2-3 truck lengths in a race to 60mph... I'm dead nuts with the 6.2l... However I think on the top, the 6.2 will start to pull on me... But from 0-60 i was dead even..
