I hope the Ecoboost has GM really thinking about doing something to compete with it. That is the only way Ford will bring out something better. Competition is the best thing that can happen for consumers. The Ford forums always talk about competitors trucks and usually talk badly about them and the competitors forums do the same. I honestly have no problem with GM. They had to use government money to stay afloat, but are doing really well now, and from what I have heard they have paid back most, if not all, money given to them. I am sure those people working at GM plants are pretty happy the Govt. stepped in and I am happy they still have their jobs as well.
Love my Ford truck though!

I have ran GMs all my life and recently bought my first new Ford. I specced both trucks online and submitted the quote requests online. I want a crew with 6.5 ft box to pull my fifth wheel. The GM dealer called me first and I let him know I was comparing his truck to an F150. He told me he wouldnt even give me a price because he was going to be $15k too high, and this was the dealer I bought my last truck from. Went to the Ford dealer and bought an FX4, best decision Ive made in a long time. Im sure getting ribbed by my friends though but when I'm done doing up my truck they will change their tune.

I am GM at heart, always will be. I do own an Eco f150 right now because it is the better choice for me/I like it better. However, my 2010 LTZ 6.2 crew cab silverado was cheaper, and a lot more powerful driving around daily. Cheaper by about 5 grand. The gas savings would never make up for the 5 grand more for the fx4. So can't knock GM there. Gms 4wd has an AWD function that Ford does not have in a more expensive truck and tht is a big deal for the average person in light winter situations. Set It and forget it all winter, your wife will love it.
Now like I said I have a f 150 right now because I like it more. But will never say GM does not make a compatible truck that is more powerful and cheaper overall including gas. I record 2 mph difference "overall" from my 6.2 GM (15 mpg) to my Eco (17 mpg). Calculate how long it will take to make up the 5g's. both crew cabs, 6.2 l had 4.10 gears and Eco has 3.73. Both tuned as well. My 6.2 would leave two large black marks while towing my boat with 33' tires and 4" lift! (Yes 15mpg average reading on 6.2 was before the lift and tires not after). Ton more snap!! I miss it a lot! Don't miss the lesser options, less seating room for my three kids, and gas price after lift....

Good post Timayz. Ford to me has beat Chevy/GM in the "Extras" department. Look at the trim levels you can get with Ford. Chevy basically has Standard and LTZ. Ford has HD, Limited, Platinum, King Ranch, FX's, etc. My dad bought a Ford F250 only because he hates spending money on customizing vehicles. Even the nice 2500 Chevy's have very plain wheels and appearance packages. A Ford Lariat F250 is a nice looking truck straight from the factory. (GMC Denali 2500 are the best looking out there though!, although I havent seen a F250 Platinum Edition in person yet!! I love choices!)

I sometimes wonder whether I should have gone with an Ecoboost or not. I wanted something with a v8 in it with my recent decision to get back into a truck and I couldn't find anything with a 6.2 in it. My previous Lincoln had the Ecoboost in it and that is definately one insane little motor. The low end torque on that thing is unbelievable especially when driving around the hills here on the highways. That Lincoln could easily cruise up the steeper hills in 6th gear running 1200-1400rpms while my F150 sometimes has to drop into 4th gear to maintain speed.
Of course the Ecoboost can't hold a candle to how amazing the 5.0 sounds. The 5.0 will sound even better once I decide whether to go with the Borla ATAQ or Roush catback.

I looked at the GMC Sierra Denali and Chevy Silverado LTZ. I like them both and I love the way they look, but those interiors are just terrible.
I hope GM does come out with something to compete with the EB. Not because I'd buy it, but I think it'll keep Ford on their toes.
