Default glasspack length?

i plan on using a glasspack in place of my muffler and turning out the side in front of the rear tire. there are different lengths of glasspacks, i would imagine that the longer, the lower sound exiting the exhaust. does anyone know the difference? i want to buy the glasspack and tips before i take it to my muffler shop, because i know from previous experience, they will try to sell me a very expensive magna flow system instead.

I just took off my glasspack, the one I used was 28in long and I paid $20 for it at Advanced Auto..2.5 I/O. I had it on for about 2000 miles. Just put and MBRP system on.

IMO, glasspacks are cheap and have a horrible sound. Go with a good flowmaster or gibson muffler, they will hold up and sound MUCH better.

The general rule with glasspacks is the shorter the louder. I have about an 18" on mine and it sounds pretty good, not loud though.

Here's a vid of mine

I've got a 28" on mine.

I'll post a video, but it was taken the day after the install. It's been about 3k miles since then, and it's gotten a LOT louder, typical of a glasspack. I'll have to see if I can get a newer video soon.

Personally, I like it. It makes for a lot of drone in the cab no doubt, but only if the windows are up. Last week my mother came into town and I took her and my sister out to Red Lobster and we took my truck, and they both complained about the noise, LOL. But they're women; they don't get it Besides, it my truck, and all that matters is that I like it! Living in Florida though, I cruise with the windows down all the time as long as it's not raining. When the windows are down, it doesn't resonate in the cab and it's not bad at all, but you do get to hear it roar and echo off buildings, walls, and cars next to you

I've been thinking about the exit spot though, and after I do my 2/4 drop I'm going to have the tips moved further back closer to the tire.
