Gotcha. I have a XLT max-tow. I don't like the looks of the tow mirrors. Functionally they are awesome but they stick out like a sore thumb. I have a travel trailer though so I had to go with function over form. Huge black mirrors on a beautiful ruby red truck. Thinking about chrome caps or painting to match. I also have to get out and fold the mirrors in when I try to go through a carwash. I would assume if you are getting a lariat it will have power folding mirrors though

I don't know about previous years, but when you build them up now, you can't get Max tow with the 5.0 engine.
You also can't get the King Ranch with the 6.2 engine which sucks. I really wanted a solid color KR but 5.0 & EB are only engine options. Actually, a loaded up KR 5.0 is about $1,100 cheaper than the Lariat I built.

What are everyone's thoughts of the 6.2 instead of the 5.0? Originally, I was planning on the 5.0 but everything I've read says the 6.2 is more of a "truck" engine and has had less problems than the 5.0 Coyote. I've always been the type to get the larger engine whether I needed it or not. Also, since this is the last year you can get the 6.2 in the F-150, I thought that would make it cool too.

I feel your pain about the King Ranch not having the 6.2. I "settled" for the 5.0.
Let me say, I've been surprised by the 5.0. I've always purchased vehicles with the largest available engine, I really thought I wouldn't like the 5.0 but it grows on you. It's got character. I regularly tow 5,500lbs or so with my near 35" tires and 3.55s. I've never felt underpowered or wished I'd gotten something else.
I only drove a 6.2 in a Raptor but it didn't feel especially torquey to me. It's still actually more over-square than the 5.0, which favors RPMs. In the heavier Raptor, I'd say it felt about equal to my truck as far as power goes. It didn't seem as refined though. I could "feel" the engine revving whereas in my truck, if you muted the sound and covered the tachometer, you'd have no idea how many rpm you were turning. It's silky.
Also, on reliability. Consider how many 5.0s are on the road compared to 6.2s. You're bound to hear of more problems since there's probably 5 times as many. Even the Ecoboost, which has no doubt been the most "troubled" of the available engines, is still reliable in terms of number sold.
So there's my apples to oranges comparison. I will say, all else being equal, I would have probably still gotten a 6.2. But between my trim level not offering it, higher MSRP, lower MPG (not a Prius but every little bit counts), and the 5.0 being more impressive than I thought, I made my choice.

Retired and loving it!
One of the issues (be it small, I understand) with the max tow mirrors is WIND noise on the highway.....especially with a head wind.
I don't know how much quieter the smaller mirrors might be, as I've never owned an F-150 without the bigger mirrors, but they ARE noisy on the highway.
I needed and wanted the max tow, and I don't mind the looks of the "dumbo" mirrors....and they are great when towing and extended for being able to actually see what's around you.

I find myself still fond of the King Ranch. I haven't totally ruled out a 5.0 KR just yet. I'm planning to drive both a 5.0 & 6.2 before making my decision. There's just this nagging voice that keeps telling me "big block, big block" lol
IIRC, the 5.0 w/3.73 is rated for 9900lbs towing which is still pretty good.
