Default Getting Ready to order- Need opinions & have questions..

Hey everyone, so I'm getting ready to order my 2014 F-150. Here's what I'm planning right now:

2014 F-150 4x4 Screw 5.5 bed
Lariat Trim (Highest I can get with chrome bumpers)
6.2 Engine
3.73 Gears
502A
Off Road Pkg
Chrome Pkg
Max Tow Pkg
Moonroof
Spray-in Bedliner
Bed extender
20" Chrome Wheels

Here's my questions:

Any downside to the larger mirrors that come in the Max tow?

I've always like 3.73 gears, are they a good choice with the 6.2 or would 3.55 be better?

Any other advice good/bad appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Steve

if you plan on running any tire bigger than stock you'll be glad you ordered 3.73

Thanks for posting!

No plans at this moment for a bigger tire. I do a lot of highway driving so in reality, the 5.0 w/3.55s would be the "smarter" choice for MPGs but I'm not buying a Prius here. I've always just found the 3.73 to be the best choice between 3.42/3.55 and the 4.10.

I'm guessing if a Raptor with 6.2 & 4.10s can get around 13-14 on the highway, I should be able to do a little better running 3.73s with less aggressive tires.

Can you get max tow with a 6.2? I thought you had to have an ecoboost for max tow?

You can only get it with the Ego or 6.2 engines. I'm going old school with my Max tow, cubes over aspiration.

Gotcha. I have a XLT max-tow. I don't like the looks of the tow mirrors. Functionally they are awesome but they stick out like a sore thumb. I have a travel trailer though so I had to go with function over form. Huge black mirrors on a beautiful ruby red truck. Thinking about chrome caps or painting to match. I also have to get out and fold the mirrors in when I try to go through a carwash. I would assume if you are getting a lariat it will have power folding mirrors though

Yeah, mine should have chrome caps and power folding. I'm on the road all the time traveling for work and I look at every F-150 I pass by. Many that I've seen have the larger mirrors. I really don't *need* the Max tow but I just like having it in case.

the only "downside" to your configuration (for me) would be the elephant-ear mirrors. I had them on a short test drive and didnt like them. I'm sure you'd get used to them though.

Otherwise, i wouldnt change a thing!

I haven't driven one with the max tow mirrors yet but I plan too. My opinion on them might change after I experience them in person!

sounds like a nice truck. if you don't like the mirrors you can always change them later. you can usally find them on e-bay and craigs list .
