A guy with a 2017 F-450 said his high pressure fuel pump went out and he was out of warranty and wanted to know how to get Ford to help with the repair. At least he wasn’t saying Ford should fix it, only asking how to try. Seemed like a reasonable request until he said he had 278K miles.

If you want warranty coverage outside the factory warranty then pony up for the extended warranty. You have a choice. Don’t cheap out and then try to get something for free later. It’s like going to Wendy’s, buying a burger by itself instead of getting the combo, then going back and asking for free fries and a drink.

Lol love how everyone feels so strongly about the guy simply asking a question.

Whats the worst that could happen? He calls up a dealer for a couple minutes to discuss the situation and they say no?

I agree that they probably won’t fix it, BUT customer service mighy be a priority. Dealership might realize this dude could spend another 40k in a couple years on another truck.

Back in the 90's Ford did repaint F150s with a paint problem. But that was a know problem, so Ford came to bat.
From my years as a Ford service manager (a job I hated) You would have to an original owner, just out of warranty my time or miles, and as with paint, was it taken care of. Where repairs done my someone else, why did you let it get so bad, and/or why only in one spot? It would have to be inspected by a zone manger and then .....maybe .......they would pay a percentage of the repair costs ........maybe.
Having said all this .... a good dealer should know what he or she can and cannot do. Many times an out of touch dealer will say something is not covered because of some loop hole they found. Your radio isn't covered because you installed a snow plow !!!!!!!!!!! what does one have to do with the other. A smart dealer if they know Ford will pay ..... do the work .......they pay retail ....a win win. But if Ford may not pay that's a problem.

We all wish we had better news for you ...... but I for one don't think you have chance.
Wouldn't I be great if Dodge fixed all those rusty rear wheel wells .........Here in the Northeast many many are shot.

People are giving honest feedback. If everyone says “call the dealer and see” or “demand it be taken care of”, then you have every random person on the internet reading this thread thinking “hey, I can do that too, maybe it’ll work for me if it worked for that guy!”

Unless it’s a small town dealer that relies solely on repeat business, I wouldn’t think that any dealer would take on a repaint job like that in good faith that the OP MIGHT buy from them next time - that is not how the market works. If that is the case, I would be at every dealer within 100 miles saying that I’m in the market for a new truck, IF they’ll fix my current issue for free.

My '13 has some wear spots in those areas where the plastic bed rail caps move around over time. I just keep them touched up. It looks to me like that was repainted. It shouldn't be peeling unless it wasn't prepped correctly. I can't be positive but it looks like the bedside was repainted with the plastic caps in place.

Just got back from a couple of auto body shops. They said the whole panel was repainted and looks like a bad job (I never noticed the orange peel). They said the dealer probably fixed something before I bought it brand new. I called the dealer and they deny it. I called Ford customer service and they say the truck was never fixed before going to the dealership. The dealer called me back and encouraged me to buy a new truck at dealer cost.

This whole situation sucks.

It does suck but there is no way of knowing what happened. At this point you can have it fixed or live with it.

They are most likely incorrect. I am speaking from experience when I say your paint peeling on the top side of the bed especially tailgates is VERY common. I have had 20+ or so F150s and some of them chipped just like yours.
