For me personally, I actually dislike the look of any exhaust tip. On my '04 superduty I cut the exhaust and had it dump just past the rear axle. No, it wasn't a big, stupid 12" tip, just a 5" stainless. I never really worried about shining it up and I think it cleans up the lines of the truck with it being somewhat hidden.

My opinion is have it at a 45 degree angle like the Magnaflow above ^. Rams have the dual exhaust out the back and I don't like the way it looks personally..I'm a big fan of dual tips out the sides, like the Solo setup.

For some reason around my parts, Ford guys typically run straight back and the Chevy/GMC guys run at 45 degree angle. I can like duals on one side behind the wheel.

side exhaust, black painted tips

straight back is pretty redneck looking IMO, unless that's the look you want

The 90 degree side exit looks good. It's not too hard to keep clean.

I must be a redneck. I like, and have, the straight back set up. I have the same MagnaFlow system as Scrappy Doo. My tailgate does not get dirty, or I don't notice because I have a black truck.

In my old Dakota 4.7L I had a Spintech muffler and two 3.5" stainless pipes turned out at a 45-degree angle behind each tire. It looked very, very sweet! But it was too loud. That's why I went to the Spintech - I originally had a Flowmaster 40 and that thing could be heard in the next state. The Spintech was quieter but not by a whole lot. That's why I've decided not to mess with the exhaust system AT ALL when my FX4 5.0 arrives in a few weeks. Personal preference.

I used to like the straight out the back, but I have grown to like the 90 out both sides. I am really digging on the mach X dual exhaust.

Here are some pictures, but this isn't my truck. My kit will be here Tuesday next week.
