The key to the backup camera is what's called an Easycap device. It converts composite video (yellow rca plug) to usb. The easycap is then plugged into the tablet. You do have to convert the usb to micro b to plug into tablet. For my specific setup I have the easycap plugged into my usb hub and then the usb hub is plugged into the tablet. A few posts back, I posted the link to the exact easycap I bought with some more details.
Hope it helps.

The easycap viewer application has settings to detect when a camera is turned on and then open itself (should work when camera is wired to reverse lights). I haven't played with these settings but they are there.

No, not on my setup, but it is possible to configure it that way. I wired my backup camera to be always on when the truck is on, so I can turn on the backup camera whenever i want to... just a simple push of a button on the tablet.

By push of a button, you just have to launch the app i guess. How long is load time from button press to image view. I would be interested to see how long the delay is for the auto feature you mentioned.

For when I start the truck, I modified my automation to ask if I want to see the backup camera after the splash screen so it can show whats behind me pretty much as soon as Im ready to backup. There's also a timeout on the question so it will just go to the home screen if i don't answer. Once you get the hang of whatever automation app you are using, pretty much anything is possible.
One thing I cannot figure out is how to get that radio app to work.... anyone?

Fourx4F150, very nice build you have there. I am in the process of shopping for a new HU for my truck, 2010 f150 XLT SuperCrew, I have looked at Pioneer and other aftermarket HUs, and now investigating a tablet as a replacement. I would prefer a tablet over some clunky HU OS that has a bunch of crap I don't need/want. Plus, being a tablet I can root and mod to my liking. I have a few questions for you about your build.
Were you able to get SYNC, factory mic, and/or steering wheel controls to work? If so, how did you achieve this? Can I safely assume you are using ODB-II over Bluetooth?
I am sure I'll have more questions in the future, but this is a good starting point.
Cheers!

2) I am using the OBDLink MX Bluetooth module. This one can do other protocols including MS-CAN which is what Ford uses for some more in-depth sensors on the truck. Simple things like tach come through OBD. Other things like airbag system and radio are on MS-CAM. (From what I've read, haven't confirmed) FYI, I still cant get the radio app to work that is posted in this thread, so you will lose those buttons if you go tablet route. I routed the radio button hardness to the glove box area so I can plug-in when needed. (Set clock, radio presets, etc... things you dont do often) All "normal" radio functions are controlled with steering wheel or voice commands.
In summay, ODB device bluetooths to tablet and then tablet bluetooths to truck. Nothing is removed from truck other than the stereo buttons and replace radio trim with new one that holds the tablet.

I know this thread is for android tablets but this guy has kits for ipads and galaxy tablet. He's done a few different installs on his own f150. For those guys that want to keep the stock radio you can flip it up and still have it behind the tablet/ipad.

Is is there a way to change wallpaper on the truck without forscan? I've seen Utube video where you push right arrow on steering volume and right arrow on menus but change will not stay.
No problem fellas.
