Ok...I will try to make this my last question...at least for now. I just need help with the tasker commands for on and off power when vehicle is cycled on and off. I tried yellows files, but I cant seem to get them working, maybe because I have an unrooted Nexus 7 using 4.4.2. Any help on how to do this would be great!

I also tried using yellows files did not work for me( have a dell venue 8 IDK if that y ) so I played with it a couple of days and set myself
here is what I did
how to set up start up:
open tasker, click profile, click the + at the bottom, and choose
"State">"Power">"Power">
Source = any
do the exact same thing under a new profile but check off "invert" for your power off setting.
now for tasks on start up
tasks:
net>bluetooth>on
net>gps>on
app>load app>Torque
app>load app>music player
display>auto brightness>on
Misc>Say>Welcome Jon
display>Display Timeout>23 hours 59 min 59 seconds
Shut down
under your power off profile you created earlier. create the tasks being the complete opposite of what you did for on.
net>bluetooth>off ( I disabled because I like to leave on now)
net>gps>off
app>kill app>Torque
app>kill app>music player
Misc>Say>goodbye Jon
display>Display Timeout>7 seconds

Hey, been following this forum for a while and decided to install a Nexus 7 in my 2012 fx4.
I currently have an Iphone 4s and the N7 and have been dealing with the problem of Sync playing media from the phone and not the Nexus.
I have seen others dealing with this same problem and wanted to share a fix that I found.
An app called A2DPbloker.
It essentially makes the Iphone invisible to Sync as a media device but is still connected as a phone.
So when i request "Bluetooth Audio" it connects the Nexus and not the phone.

Some people have been asking questions about how the tablet turns on and off.
Here is a copy of a PM that I sent to another member that describes the basics
There is an app called tasker. Tasker can sense when the tablet is charging and set a List of commands. Mine is set to turn on the screen turn off airplane mode and turn the screen to full bright between the hours of 7am and 6pm and 25% bright between 6pm and 7am (night mode) it also turns on Bluetooth and wifi. ( you can make it do A LOT more but this is the basics.
Then when tasker senses that it is not charging it can force close all apps turn off blue tooth and wifi and go into airplane mode and turn off the screen after 7 seconds.
All you have to do is wire in a cigaret lighter plug to a switched source. I recommend using a car charger that has the USB inset on it( needs to be 2.1 amps or the tablet won't charge fast enough. ) the nice part about using the charger that has the USB inset on it is if you wanted to add any files music over to the tablet just unplug the USB plug it into the laptop and transfer the files. I personally just use wifi it's easier.
So when you turn on the key the tablet comes out of sleep mode turn the key off and it goes into ultimate sleep mode. Mine loses 1% power overnight and is fully charged after 3 min of driving.
Ultimately the tablet never fully shuts off. But I have an iPad that I have not fully turned off in 4 years
Hope this helps. Look up tasker super easy to set up.
One small Change not put in the build that I added after fixed the finish on my bezel is I added a little bitty button to the top that I can use to reset the tablet if ever needed like if it freezes up. After I put the dash back this time I really don't plan on taking it out again

Didn't look through all the pages. But the main thing keeping me from this is I want a backup camera with it. Well now it seems like this mod is next up for me!

I've done my install but I tried to take a short-cut on the power. As per usual I only delayed the finished product. I actually made a video asking my question and showing my progress thus far. I apologize for the shaky feed and how it's a bit long-winded. Any help would be great! Thanks!

For Power I just bought this but have not tried it yet, they claim it will supply 3A.
Sceebl is another screen app to try that I have been using and seems to work well.
It uses the Nexus's Accelerometer to detect movement and will not let the screen dim until parked and times out.
Another app I am using for Bluetooth management is Bluetooth Auto Connect, it works well at connecting to Sync when powered on.

Are you able to get a map app to give turn by turn directions while not on Bluetooth audio? The only way i can get Google maps to give turn by turn directions is while listening to Bluetooth audio, as soon as i listen to satellite or fm nothing.
