Default Gen 2 Raptor Shocks

So I did a little research on the Gen 2 Raptor shocks and found out they are 2" longer then Gen 1 raptor shocks. These shocks are 1" shorter then my current shock set up, so I felt pretty good about the numbers as I never fully drop my suspension to where the shocks will be my limiting factor. Worst case I can always add limiting straps if needed. With that being said , I got a great price on a set and figured I would try them.

The ride is great with them, little stiffer at first then the 2.0's, then they soften up real nice and take the hit of little bumps great and soak up big hits like speed bumps or pot holes as if you never hit them. Over all I like the ride and think the valving of the 17 Raptor shocks works well on our steal body trucks. But I did have to remove the roost shield as it was to big and hitting the u bolt bracket. I love the look of these other then the driver side the stickers are backwards, face inwards do to how they are mounted on the Gen 2 Raptors. So I may order some fox stickers for them.

I know the fronts have a few issues with fitment because of the bigger spring and different top hat, but I think I'm going to put my factory spring and top hat on them with a coil spring collar adjuster and see how they work on a 6" lifted truck. But that probably won't be till after the holidays.

So you put the stock 17+ raptor shocks on your truck with a 6" lift? I was thinking about doing this with a 4" lift and couldn't find out if they would work with that height and their length. This is great news! I can pick up a set of rears for like $300 on facebook marketplace! It sounds like these would be perfect length for a 4" lift!

Please let me know how you figured out that they were 1" shorter for a 6" lift. I tried doing some research but couldn't ever come up with a definite answer.

My fox 2.0's were 33" long and most other rear shocks are around 33" long for a 6" lift, the Gen 2 rears are 31" long. So because I dropped my 5" block to a 4" block I lost an 1" of shock lenght from 33" to 32". The Raptors are now an within 1" of what I needed. So depending on how you have your rear lifted these should work fine for a 4" lift as most 4" lifts use around a 3" rear block height. Hope this helps.

The 4" lifts uses a 4" rear block for most of them, so it would be identical to how yours is then. I may think about this option. I sent an email to the guy who is going to install my 4" lift to have him measure the 2.0's for 4" lifts. If they are similar I will probably go this route, but I may just get some that are made for 4" lifts.

So nearly every 4" lift shock has extended length around 30-31" and collapsed around 18". This should put the ride height right around 25" which is exactly where the Gen 2 raptors run.
I picked up a set of new takeoffs for $270

Here are the Gen 2 measurments I found for anyone else wondering.
Eye to eye: 31" overall fully extended
shock body: 17.5"
piston length 12.25"
fully compressed: 10"

Yup. If you were to buy 2.5" with this staging, you're probably looking easily $1500. If anyone wants them here is the link. $270 through Sunday and then back to $300

I got mine installed today. Just an FYI for anyone running stock wheels. My lt295/55/r20 (33x11.5) have about a pinky of room between them and the shocks. No way you could run stock wheels with any wider tire.
