Smile Gears

What rear end gears are better for my application? 3.73? 4.10? or other? I like my truck for around street performance and driving the family around. I like a great acceleration off the line, but I have a 5.4 which poops out at 5,000 RPM, so I don't want too low of a gear. I have a 2010 XLT SCrew 5.4 4X2 with the 5.5 bed. No off roading here. Stock tires for now, but I will be getting 305/50/20's soon. What do you guys think? I have no experience with these gear ratios, so please vote and let me know what you think and why. I have 3.15's now and I hate them. Too high of a ratio.

I have a 2010 Screw XLT 5.5 bed 4x4 5.4 with 3.73's and think there fine. I also tow a 7200lb TT. The reason it poops out at 5000rpms is because your past your power band. 310hp @5000 rpms and 360TQ at 3500rpms. Not sure why you really need to run up to 5000 rpms that often, but what ever floats your valves I guess. FWIW I get 18 mpg hwy and 14 around town. I would think that if your not towing anything 3.55's would be the best. But if your looking for a way to make it quicker just get the 4.10's.

I have 2011 F150 FX4 3.73's EL and whish I had 3.55's EL so I could possibly get better gas mileage! But other than that I love the 3.73's!

My 2011 FX4 only came with 3.73's. For 2012 3.55's are an option. I tow a small travel trailer lots and I feel the 3.55's would be a better choice.

My XLT Screw has a 3.55:1 but I wish it had a 3.31:1 gear ratio.

I don't care to turn 5000K, but sometimes when I try to get into the highway, it revs out and passes its prowerband. I didn't want it to have to rev too high with too low of a gear.
