I decided to run premium in mine a month ago and finally got most of the 87 out of it on Monday. Said 0 for around 14-15 miles of mostly flat 55 MPH highway. Hit the first ethanol free gas station in town and she took just under 26 gal. So I'd say there was still a half to three-quarters of a gal in her.

I'm sure the DTE is pretty much a crap shoot. I'm guessing its based on avg mpg so if you're doing better than that you'll go further.
I've never experienced it myself, but I read somewhere (don't remember where) of an individual taking a trip across town and checking it when they stopped. Then going into a store or something and coming out and starting the truck and the DTE was actually higher than when they first left.

Yep, just the other day my DTE said 60 miles. I filled up only 30 gallons.. meaning I had 6 gallons left.. @ 19MPG that's like really 114 miles DTE... if on the highway my DTE would have been near 144 miles.
The manual says:
tank after the fuel gauge indicates empty.
not be relied upon to increase driving range.
Of course it doesn't say how much the reserve can hold.

The amount of usable fuel in the empty reserve varies and should
not be relied upon to increase driving range.

I like the idea of reading fewer miles better than the alternative though.

I suggest a test. You should drive until you run out and then you'll know how many miles you can go.

indeed! I rarely let mine get much below half tank because most pumps shut off before it gets full then, which is really annoying. Sucks not being able to utilize the whole tank, but on long road trips I usually have to stop for a leg stretching or bathroom break long before i go through 36 gallons anyway, haha!
