My 2012 ecoboost Screw 4x4 5.5 has now averaged 18.3 for the first 4800 miles. The current tank has got 19.3 mpg on a combination of city and highway driving.

When does the mileage start to average out? Admittedly, I've only driven 300 miles so far, not a lot of it above 50 mph but the gas average is creeping very slowly and has only gone from 12 to 12.6 in the last 100 miles.

Do you need to get on the turbos from time to time or should I just be patient and wait for the first 1,000 or 2,000 miles?

Looking forward to seeing 17 or so.

other posts you may see in this thread :

"my dads Ecoboost gets 27mpg"

"when I tow, I usually see around 19mpg, it goes up to 24mpg empty"

"I get 21-23mpg city, with 35s and a 4 inch lift, twice pipes and the heavy duty muffler fluid"

"Me, my wife and our dog went to Canada and back, drove 75-85mph for 14 hours per day and we got 956 miles per tank"

I have 10,000 miles on mine. Didn't see 15mpg until I stopped going over 65 mph. Iv'e been 565 miles on a tank, thats over 17mpg. Less than 65 mph the whole time. I romp on it all day and that drops to 10 mpg.

TANK AVG is what you need to know, not the small windows of "36.4 mpg" when its rolling down hill.

Hi, I bought a 2011 eco in December and so far my average has been 15.1. I think most important is where you live and rear end gears. I live in New York so I am dealing ethanol and winter blend crap fuel. Mileage sould go up 2 MPG in summer, no warm up or 4x4 driving. Also I have the 3.73 Max tow package so @ 70 on the highway right now I only get around 15 to 17. All that being said I love the truck and would want no other engine. Jason

I just bought mine and drove it home 780kms and in that I burned 80liters of fuel. Which works out to about 23mpg US. I was inpressed and that was driving 120 pretty much the whole way

+1. Really bought a pick up and you're concerned about mileage? This is just silly...

For some of us this matters. My old 04 5.4 was getting 5-7 MPG worse milage. And I need a pickup for work. I do a lot of driving and If I'm saving $50 a week on fuel that's $2400 a yr just in fuel savings

Usually with in te first 5-10000 it will very. New truck means you can't keep your foot out if it and the truck is getting broken in, so far the best I have gotten is 17 but that's a lot of town mixed with little highway. I usually average around 16 cuz I like the power too much, coming from a jeep this is like a rocket ship

I have a 2013 ecoboost super crew 4x4. Put a hell bent steel 2 inch level on it and raptor wheels and tires. My mileage was around 14.6 city 18 hwy before I did the mods. After, I'm getting 13.5 city and 16.5 ish highway... Idk, coming from a 2007 FJ with 35's, offroad bumpers, racks, lights, subs, winch, etc i was getting about 8-9 highwayAnd 11 city. With a 19 gallon tank, I was stopping a bunch. I am happy as hell with mileage that others are pissed about.
