I have a 2009 Lariat SCrew 5.4L 3.31 ratio 6 speed automatic completely stock. I get about 15.6MPG combined. I bought a full size truck because I need a truck. When the fuel gauge is low, I fill it up.

Thanks for starting this thread ztruck8. It seems that some of the members here are afraid of the future.

Fuel efficiency is the future. I am sure many of you have seen the big rigs with aerodynamic improvements on them. Many trailers have side fairings and a few now run a foldable boatail like this one.

http://www.atdynamics.com/

These new aerodynamic devices save the companies that run these fitted on thier trucks alot of money. If one of their drivers say they won't drive a truck with these on it because it is "fugly" the fleet owner will tell that driver to drive it or he's fired.

So, having developed aerodynamic add ons for the late model F150 which increases the fuel efficiency of the F150 by up to 25%, it is a matter of economy, not aesthetics.

Here are some pictures of what has been developed for the Ford F150. It gets you 18.5 mpg combined with just the aerodynamic camper, which also raises into a camper shell, and gets 25 miles per gallon on the freeway with the extra aerobox, set on the open tailgate.

It is the future. It ain't pretty but it works. All the immatures you speak of on this forum, of which there are many, none of them are out there developing anything that increases the fuel efficiency of their truck or anybody elses, that I know of. However, they are sure quick to sit bravely behind a keyboard and fire off inflammatory curt remarks at those of us who are.

Aero yes. Pickup truck funtional? Not so much. Poor visibility and snow covers rear view window.
An option to box covers but not canopies. I moved down from one ton truck to half ton to reduce consumption and improve comfort.
That was a 40% improvement and I'll wait a little longer before I put that compromise on my truck.

I have a 2009 f150 screw 4x4 6.5' box 5.4L
100km/hr on the highway I get 10L/100km = 23.52 MPG on average

At 80km/hr I can get 8L/100km = 29.4 MPG at my best with cruise on.

I run Lucas fuel treatment every tank. And I took out the air box snorkel. I also running without a tonneau cover, yet to purchase one.
