You agreed, and were both wrong on both counts.

1) The screen shown has nothing to do with the last 5, 10, or 30 mins. So this was a completely false statement.
2) The Instant MPG is as accurate as the Trip A/B. If you reset both prior to a trip, both will show the exact same value.

I agree Trip A/B is better to display to people, because it shows the miles driven. But you're wrong on the Instant MPG screen not being accurate.

EDIT - And yes, of course that screen can be manipulated, but if we're talking about manipulation, the same can be done on the Trip A/B. Just hit pause when you're about to go up a grade.

I was agreeing to him by saying the trip a/b is what you need to be most accurate. I should have clarified. Also, I never said it wasn't accurate lol, I said it was easily manipulated. And yes, if you reset trip a or b and immediately reset the instant mpg screen, they will be the same... Clearly... Lol

Yeah, or (from above) i suppose some kind of unknown time based average.

If i wanted to be an Eco-Boob I'd post this... 20.4 mpg 70 avg spd w/ 3.73s

But I'm not and i'll explain that I'm pretty sure i had a ~25 knot tail wind...lol
I was pretty happy when i saw that, until i headed back in the oppo direction and only got 17

Its funny around town I don't really care about MPG, I tend to get between 12-14 (lots of stop and go). When on a road trip, I constantly evaluate my MPG. We recently went on a 5 day vacation, with about 6 hrs driving each way. On the way up I managed about 19 until I turned west (and hit a major head wind). Just before turning west we filled up (knowing that gas was more $ where we were going), and I reset the instant meter. Ended up getting about 14 into the head wind.

On the way back apparently we had a bit of tail wind, and ended up getting 22. I haven't checked the A/B meter since the trip, but I didn't reset trip A during the trip at all. I have left trip B alone since I bought the truck, and last time I checked it, it was around 16-17 I think.

Speed and wind can make a huge difference in mpg in my experience.

YMMV <- Pun intended!

Ok I guess a little clarification is in order here, I just filled my tank in casa grande and reset avg economy, I drove between 10-15 miles to home. There are no hills between my home and where I filled up, rdkev if you know where I'm talkin about you will know there are no hills in the area. Someone once said to drive like there's an egg under your foot, well I drove like there was a rotten egg under my foot lol.
