FX4 locker MOD
Has any one done a mod on the locker? As in, is there a way to lock the rear when not in 4x4? like the raptor, is it just a change in the switch? or will the computer not let it happen? Many a time I would love to lock it up and not have to be in 4x4. I do know the computer will kick it out at 35 but I can live with that for now. HELP
I thought I read somewhere there is a wire that you can tap into and run a switch to it.. I might of read that in the raptor forum. Should be the same deal.
I just found this on another F150 site. But its not confirmed if it'll work. And its on you if you do try it.
Quote..I may try this one day if I get time. If you look at the rear diff there is a two wire plug on the top driver side. I think that is where they are sending the 12 colts to lock the diff. Do a little work with a meter or test light. I think it would be easy to add your own switch to send a positive 12 volts and tap that plug to lock the diff in. Get ready for all the nay sayers that say you will flip over in a ditch, blow your truck up and kill kittens by modifying your truck, lol...
So good luck.

its a simple volt on volt off to lock unlock it, you can order the wireing kit from Eaton and all you have to do is find the wire on the diff to tap/bypass it. It would be very simple. I dought you will be able to fool the computer without reprogaming it. But it you simply bypass the computer so its left in the dark to speak you should be in buisness. I havent done it but reasearched it a little, the wireing kit for the F150 is like 90 bucks comes with instructions, relays, switch and all wire to mount it on the dash. All we would have to do is find the wire that controls it at the diff.
I know I could bypass the computer and set it up to lock with a simple switch going to the diff. What I am looking for and hoping is that the switch in the dash 4x2,4x4hi,4x4lo pull to lock. Where pull to lock is disabled in 4x2 could be modified go pull to lock in 4x2 and presto the diff locks. The computer may not care that your not in 4x4 and they planned on just using the detents in the switch to keep you from doing it. If someone comes up with an easy way to pull the switch out of the dash I will try it, should be just jumping some wires to test, and if it works a little dremel tool work
I know someone on here was going to get a Raptor 4wd switch that will allow it to lock in 2wd but no one has officially reported back yet. Like said above, I think it still will not work unless the computer is programmed.
i ordered the 4x4 switch and when it arived it was the same as my old one. you can't get that old switch anymore.
i bought that same switch to play with. i did get it to pull out now and will try it later this week will post
